lol at the part about Vita's 10yr life... in order for it to see PS4, it only needs a 2yr life.
If Sony uses anything but PS4, they is crazy. They already have a standard to follow that is easily identifiable by the masses. It would be crazy to change that.
Apparently this site has some sketches for the next PS

and damn man..about friggin time..I was getting bored with almost no rumors about the next PS home console with WiiU having plenty and xbox having some. Exciting times but can you or someone else ..break the specs down and explain them in a noob friendly way? |
Pretty much the Southern Islands GPU is the name of a next-gen family of graphics chips. They are 28nm so their tiny, run cool, and are powerfull as hell.
I'm interested to see what version the Orbis plans on using since I have no idea, or if its getting its own custom version, I honestly have no idea about that.
Either way its far and away superior to anything in the modern consoles. As for the resolution its displaying in, thats higher than pretty much any standard HDTV on the market right now, which means Sony must be banking on having the Orbis ready for the inevitable UD screens.

Alright, you and your birdie better start rounding up some extra info about the next-box, or I will remove your forum buddy!
OT:
Hopefully "Orbis" is just a code name because... *pukes*

no PS3 backwards compatibility...? ok i understand they are cutting cost to do that, but if it can't even play the digital PS3 games from PSN will be sux...

Yep, the UD screens have 16 times the number of pixels as a HDTV screen. Basically when they come out it can't get better cause the human eye wouldn't be able to see and difference past that, they will look as clear as anything in the real world can. Either way they are still a few years out before we see any for the consumer to buy and probaby 5-6 years before they become common place at all.
But Sony is probably banking on a long life span for their next-system so they want it to be prepared for a UD screen when they come.
Why would they do that? They have one of the most recognized brand names in the world with the simple "playstation". They'd be crazy to throw that out the window. That would like Coca Cola suddenly being named "Black Soda" or "Blackbrew" or something.
Like others have said, I'm prety sure it's the codename. I doubt we'll see it at this years E3. IF it's unveiled this year it would be TGS at the earliest imo. More than likely Feb or March next year in a conference much like when the Vita, then known as NGP, was unveiled.
