The losses due to piracy are negligible. The relevant industries release garbage and *BELIEVE* the consumer is a brain-dead idiot who will buy anything, when we show them that we aren't and we won't they blame piracy for their losses.

While I don't agree with most forms of piracy (I rarely if ever do so), I think most industries probably recoup costs associated with piracy in various ways. For example, you pay a tax on blank media like cd's and dvd's up here in canada because our version of the RIAA convinced the governemtn that they should get some money for potential piracy...

I hate piracy, but if true, this is great because it means the disc is printed!

Unfortunately, I find it highly unlikely that the American disc has A) been printed, or B) been stolen yet.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

i'm very anti-piracy but i do agree with sqrl. not all downloads are a direct loss of revenue as every pirate i know takes a pokemon "got to catch them all" attitude towards downloading (hence why i've played ninja bread man). Then again the pirates i know download the games they would have bought to so there is definitely a loss in revenue - just not one directly proportional to the amount they download.

Just remember one thing - not paying for games lead to unprofitable games leads to games not being produced. so please don't be a jackass, i love video games and would like to continue playing them for a long time. Downloading selfish and short-sided.

Very true.  My opinion is that it's okay to download as "try before you buy" as I think rental prices are outrageous (at least where I live).  But if you end up liking it and playing it a lot, I think you have a moral obligation to obtain a legal copy.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

I have an R4 for import DS games, because imports are ridiculously overpriced, and most of them (like Tales) I just want to try, not buy. Not till the English version anyway. I have a hacked PSP, but only so I can play my PSX games and emulate all my old games. I also will download a PC game if I want to play it before buying but there is no demo anywhere or I can't borrow it from a friend. Other than that, I buy all my games.
