Forums - Gaming - When will people realize that Japanese Gaming is irrelevant

What the hell the winner of this gen mostly has successful Japanese developed games. Theres plenty of relevant japanese games some of them only do good in japan though. The same for american games they aren't selling well in japan so can we say the same from a different perspective?

I trust no one, not even myself.

FatDD - you should highlight "Aside from Nintendo" somewhere.

Sony realized a long time ago that Japan is irrelevant because America is the most relevant country.. i mean we provide your GPUs, SPUs, your Operating Systems.

-Nvidia
-AMD
-Intel
-Microsoft
-Apple

ALL AMERICAN...

But for you people that constantly complain about lack of Japanese influence, don't just blame it on Microsoft blame yourselves for it.  I see you guys supporting Sony but complaining about Microsoft, and it's funny because as for as Japanese gaming company goes Sony is a complete sell out... I mean just look at Sony's best games this generation

-God Of War
-Uncharted
-Infamous
-MLB the Show

News flash, guys!  those games aren't Japanese.  Look at Sony's first party

-Santa Monica
-Suckerpunch
-Insomniac
-NAUGHTY DOG

Those are all American made! All American born...   Heck we can go further, look at Guerrilla Games, Quantic Dream, Ninja Theory, and the guys that made Motorstorm... they are all European.. so im wondering why are you guys supporting a machine that has sold out from Japanese Gaming....

It took the Japanese 5 years to make GT5, and look at "Team Ico" how many games have they made this generation? ...exactly...   face it people, Japanese gaming is old, it's tired, it's obselete, it's irrelevant..

Look at VALVE, Steam, Digital Distribution...   ARE THEY JAPANESE?   The Japanese still has to understand the concept of ONLINE GAMING. i mean just look at Nintendo....

So for all you folks wanting to hate on America, hey it's all cool because right now America is what is relevant to gaming, not only does America thinks so, Japanese and Sony themselves thinks so as well. If you don;t like it it's your problem, you just gotta deal.

Reading this makes you appear clue less...

Nintendo is JAPANESE, right? They're winning this gen. They have sold HUGE amounts of games:

Mario Kart Wii: 31 MILLION cpoies sold

NSMB: 28m sold for DS and 25m sold on Wii

Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus: 22m and 20m

3DS is the fastest seeling console of all time; 15m in one year.

Nintendo revolutionized gaming with the Wii - and look you followed quickly: AMERICAN Microsoft with their riposs KINECT.

Don't come saying that japanese gaming is irrelevant - cuz it isn't.

besides Nintendo's first party...?  exactly.

what happened to the mighty Namco, Konami?

It still proves your point wrong...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

While Japan definitely has screwed up horribly this gen, it's mostly because they tried to become more Western, and failed at it, Japan has always been the country which dominates the gaming industry until this generation.

You act as if only Western Studios make quality games, which is wrong, Nintendo and several others like Atlus have done incredible jobs this generation. 4 out of my top 5 games this generation are from Japan.

Also, I (and many) don't care about High-End graphics or online gaming, so if that's a standard for you, it's cool, but you can't force it on everyone.

Gosh, where is Xxain when you need him?

To which i'm afraid i must answer "So...?"

Online gaming is an easy thing to copy and replicate. The real spirit of gaming, however, is not.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It's in the eye of the observer.

For me american gaming is mostly irrelevant, I dislike flat uninspiring, generic and primitive gaming content and that counts for most of the american companies you listed, thats of course my personal opinion but if you talk about relevance in a total capital driven and badly regressed (creativity wise) "economy" you are probably right.

If I had to list some "relevant" gaming companies for my terms (games I really enjoyed in the last couple years and companies that are really noteworthy or "relevant" to me), i would list:

From Software, CD Project, Atlus, Capcom, Quantic Dreams and Nintendo.

Does the online capability make the game play better? no... Pure game play isn't based whether or not the game can be played online.

those I care about (not counting Nintendo's devisions like Retro) are Valve hmm EA's Dead Space.... wow I can't remember any other devs that make games I want to play
