Forums - Nintendo - De Blob - shameless cut and pasting

De Blob looks much better than Elebits; look at these colorful blocks on the skyscrapers (?). That's bloom lighting (so far seen it only on Red Steel, Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3), the textures seem a bit sharper than Elebits and the artistic direction is tremendous.

By the way, I was reading a preview about this game in NGamer UK and they stated it was a University students project (for the PC if IRC) and then THQ asked them to move it to the Wii.

According to the preview, the time clock is only for missions. You can spend as long as you want bopping around the city.

I do wish the game's graphics had a slight bit more of an oomph behind them to go with the terrific art style. It sort of gives off an Elebits vibe in that way.

DIT: @Phendrana - Stof meant HE shamelessly cut and pasted the entire IGN article.

Ohhhh sorry bout that. I've been drinking and my ability to discern such things has apparently fallen apart lol

I've been looking forward to this as well. There is nothing quite like roaming around a city as a giant coloured blob.

I hope it's good on Wii cause i tried the PC demo and i can't say i like it. The controls are really bad.

Edit: The screens btw are way too different, there's no time limit on PC demo, the HUD is different, and when you paint a building it just gets colour not these strange shapes on it. Weird...

IGN didn't seem concerned about controls. They would have mentioned if the controls were still rough.

"it's obvious that this was the right control choice."

This looks awesome! When is release?

No official release date, yet. The game is very visibly improved from the last time I saw it, which was about 6 months ago, so I suspect that there may be a lot more polish going into this title. THQ may be planning to make this their first big Wii game. I think it might just have million-seller potential.

I think that might be a bit too much, but 500.00 worldwide should be possible with the right word of mouth. Looks very good.

BTW it was originaly created by some Dutch students. This wil be, behind the Killzone games, the best selling Dutch game ever I suppose (probably we're better in building dikes....)

And that's why Dike building trainer for the DS will ultimately steal the crown for top selling dutch game.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

i came in thinking it was going to rip the blob up ...but game still looks good

Actually you're sitting on a goldmine here. I would ask for copywrite now.

Story: A type 5 hurricane is approaching the Gulf of Mexico shoreline. You're a Dutch engineer hired by the US government to save the people in the area. Time is running out....

Maybe it will be a big seller maybe not. But what was orignially a quaint tech demo on the PC is now shaping up to be a quality, fun, new IP from a 3rd Party for the Wii. Where do I sign up? Hopefully it gets polished to be more on the level with Zack & Wiki and less like Nights.

Hopefully we will hear this kind of upbeat news from other projects like Mushroom Men.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt
