The first time I saw this I thought it seemed pretty promising. Something to keep my eye on but not get my hopes up too much. This preview really has gotten my attention again though. Looks very cool.

On a side note, why such a harsh title for the topic? I think it looks very original lol

According to the preview, the time clock is only for missions. You can spend as long as you want bopping around the city.

I do wish the game's graphics had a slight bit more of an oomph behind them to go with the terrific art style. It sort of gives off an Elebits vibe in that way.

We looking at the same games here?

Blob and the ink cop in Tarheel's sig look a great deal edgier to me than Elebits do, and a big difference between the two would be the De Blob's entire world is consistent with it's characters, where as Elebits are usually in mundane environments with a realistic look.

Not sure what you mean by oomph, but thanks for posting this. I hadn't paid much attention to this title until now. =)

EDIT: @Phendrana - Stof meant HE shamelessly cut and pasted the entire IGN article.

I don't mean that they have a similar style, but that they seem to have a similar level of graphics technology. De Blob has some truly awesome visual design, but the technicals behind it look a bit lacking.

Which is ok, as like I said, I'm very very very interested. I just hope that people are grabbed by the style and not put off by the graphics.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Lol, looks good to be honest...

Guess I'll just agree to disagree, I just don't get that vibe watching the videos IGN provided, even though I did feel that way about Elebits. Maybe I'm just too taken but the art style.

Alright. How about this. It reminds me of NiGHTS. Depending on the screenshot or video, NiGHTS was either one of the prettiest games around or an average last gen product. It all depended on how much of the glorious art design was featured.

That's how I feel here. The pictures of multi coloured or monochromatic cityscapes are fantastic. The up close pictures of textures and models aren't so much.

I was keeping an eye on the game when it was first announced, now my anticipation has risen quite a bit due to this preview.

No official release date, yet. The game is very visibly improved from the last time I saw it, which was about 6 months ago, so I suspect that there may be a lot more polish going into this title. THQ may be planning to make this their first big Wii game. I think it might just have million-seller potential.
