How do you mean that the 360 has a better variery of games in regards of the PS3? would you mind explaining some more? :)

The 360 doesn't have the most variety, that was typo on my part (Sorry about that). It has the worst first party support outside of Kinect of the big three.   Earlier on around the first three years (2005-2008) of the 360's life it did have great variety. It was still mostly third parties doing the work for Microsoft though. The PS3 has more variety in its lineup and have more wealth when it comes to quality first party IP lineups, so you could imagine second and third party exclusives are a bonus. Sony has a bunch of companies whom a lot of gamers trust and have grown up with under their wing or partnered with them. If you solely value FPS and Multiplayer then go with the 360, if you value good multiplayer with great focus on  great exclusive titles then the PS3 is for you. The PS3 also has Blu Ray and upscales DVD's. It's a better multimedia console. It's also cheaper to maintain.

I don't care for multiplayer at all... And I've never got the hang of FPS's... And how do you mean it's cheaper to maintain?

I spent $299 on my PS3 and havent spent a cent on  up keep  since outside of a new controller and headset.

For my 360...lets see...

320 GB HD $130

Battery pack, had to stop the maddness from the constant batteries. $30

Extra controllers $39.99

Xbox Live $60

Turtle Beach headset  $69.99

My friends have more accessories than me. I cut it off at that.

You do realize that those accessories are completely unnecessary right? I bought a 360 January last year for $130 and I never needed a hard drive, batteries (had to recharge my batteries twice) or anything else you listed. As a secondary console the 360 is well worth the price. That being said, as a primary console I can not imagine the 360 being a worthwhile investment when we have PC's.

If you care about the motion part of the two systems I would say get the 360 for the Kinect. But if that does not matter to you then you should go with the PS3. I am probably wrong, but after glancing over various Microsoft threads and Sony threads over the years it seems that the PS3 may have better graphics and more exclusives. Seems like it to me.
Also it has a bluRay player.

I'm NEVER getting a kinect! :O

You don't want Kinect, you don't care about multiplayer, and you don't like fps. I would recommend a PS3 to anybody 100% of the time, but in your case I'm recommending it 200%. If you are trying to entertain yourself with something till the Wii U comes out, (or just entertain yourself period) The PS3 in my opinion is definitely the better choice. It has a better variety of games, which seems to be what you are concerned with the most.

If he gets curious though, the PS3 has multiplayer and FPS at his disposal if he wants it. He's not missing out on much. The FPS titles that everyones playing these days are multiplat.

Oh yeah definitely. I was just saying those are the 360's main selling points. But yeah, PS3 has plenty to offer in the FPS/TPS category aswell.

Then it seems to me that you have got your answer already.

You probably got that 360 used. I'm not talking about a used console and if you have a white one my the lord be with you...and your warranty. You only had to recharge/replace your batteries twice? How much do you use your 360 then? I totally agree on the PC comment though.

It's a brand new slim I purchased as part of a new year sale, this years sale was even better. I played it enough to finish all 3 Gears games multiple times (as well as my fair share of hoard mode), Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (including every terrorist hunt) as well as six XBL Arcade games (getting the Golden God achievement on Super Meat Boy was just one of those). My rechargeable batteries get a lot more life than the average battery and they weren't expensive either.

What recharable batteries are those? I just bought the battery pack to get it over with.

Well, are you looking to buy a blu-ray player?  That could make your decision easier right there...

I haven't read through all of the responses, but based on your OP, the fact that you like action/adventure and aren't interested in FPSs or Kinect, the answer is quite obvious to me... the PS3.

You did say you liked Fable, however, which I personally can't relate to because I don't.  But even taking that into consideration I can't imagine that being enough to sway your decision.  Along with a little Halo, the only 360 exclusives I personally care for are Alan Wake and Shadow Complex; and The Uncharted series alone runs circles around every 360 exclusive put together, IMO.  Factor in God of War 3 (and 1 &2, which run beautifully in GOW: Collection), and Metal Gear Solid 4 and the PS3 is a hands-down win for you.

@S.T.A.G.E.

It's really hard to make out the tiny logo on the charger but it looks like iConcepts. If I ever see another one I'll make sure to snatch it up.
