Forums - Gaming - Nintendo 3DS vs. Playstation Vita Comparison (And the Winner Is.....)

So what do you think?

You got it right. Good job! 154 43.14%

You blew it! Vita is the best!! 57 15.97%

I see where you're comin... 18 5.04%

Just what I expected from a fanboy! 27 7.56%

See results 97 27.17%

Total:353

I think Rol really hit the nail on the head for any possible rebuttal.

"I feel sorry for the people who expect a different result in future comparisons, because the 3DS will be a moving target. The Vita doesn't only have to catch up to where the 3DS is now, at the same time it needs to outdo the games the 3DS has yet to receive. The gap will be widening, not closing."

This is primarily why I see the secondary rebuttals resorting to demonizing the weighted average, and motif of the OP. Vita will never be able to catch up to the 3DS, because 3DS is already way in front as far as the games are concerned, and as everyone knows, Nintendo doesn't simply let consoles float by with the bare minimum amount of support.

I'll answer that too.
E3 won't have any japanese games of notice for vita, except if there's an exclusive Metal Gear or Final Fantasy, which is doubtful, but may happen. MH won't be announced at E3, no chance.

Now for what I hope to happen:
Big support from Capcom - 3 games at least. Resi Rev will be ported.
Big support from Konami - MGS is way more important, but Castlevania would hurt 3DS's users egos a lot

You hope that this happens? You hope? Especially the bolded?

On whose side are you really?

haha, yeah, hope is the wrong word. Those are the things I find necessary for Vita's survival. It must hurt 3DS owners like the 3DS hurt their (vita's) owners - MH gave nightmares to a lot of Vita's fans, some of them never recovered.

(ps. If I say I hope for a port of Castlevania Lords of Shadows to come for Vita would you forgive me?)

I think you have to be a Sony fan to understand how broad of a statement that is, it's not as easy for us as it is for you to pin point what a may and may not be announced, what we do know is that what is announced will be  awesome, and not knowing what that is because you never know with Sony is what makes E3's so exciting for us

There are always rumors, some believable, some not, and games that have been announced but which we haven't seen or heard from since. This is doubly true for Sony, who leaks information like a sieve.

Thank you. I'm surprised to hear you don't expect many Japanese games, though, since they tend to be almost exclusively the only ones who work on portables. Why the pessimism?

1.5-2 years tops before comparing the 3ds library to vita will become like comparing the ps3 library to wii

ps3 and wii both came out at the same time.

Lords of Shadow isn't really accepted as a Castlevania title, plus it would be a port. So yes, that's forgivable.

I thought so! With some useless extra content, like a gallery or extra costumes to make it even more cruel when 3DS Metroidvania arrives.

But what game would hurt you more if it becomes Vita exclusive? To me is either Castlevania or professor Layton.

I can understand people saying that comparing the two system's libraries based on one being a year old and the other about three and a half months puts the Vita at an immediate disadvantage.  Perhaps another review in about a year from now is warranted.

But I think the fact that Vita won almost every category and still didn't win overall is not flawed logic, but rather a very telling statement.  Despite the fact that D21 felt that the Vita was superior in many ways when broken down, it just shows how much he values what is by far the most important factor:  Better games, in his opinion.

Sony is now a western studio. So that eliminates any japanese game from them. And there'll be a lot of games from them to show there, taking most of their stage time.

And outside some big games, most japanese games of notice tend to appear on TGS, especially for portables. The notables exceptions are the "big everywhere" games like MGS or Final Fantasy. There'll be some, but outside games from those notable series, no japanese game will put the internet on fire at e3.

He means which games specifically do you expect. Like a Final Fantasy, a Metal Gear Solid etc.

His post was actually quite clearly worded, so I don't understand how two people in a row had trouble to understand it. "Upcoming releases", that would be games.

How hard can it be to name a few franchises or alternatively that this or that developer will make a new IP for the PSV?

And really, I have been here for five years and the general consensus among Sony fans after every E3 is: "Quite boring, needed more surprises." Why? Because almost everything of major interest gets leaked weeks in advance.

for a Sony platform....VERY HARD, apart from the stuff that gets leaked and flat out announced when was the last time you think you knew what Sony would announce at E3???

and that may be true for this site but as far as the rest of the internet goes Sony hasn't disappointed since 07 with the only real disappointment being 06
