Cafeteria religion is the history of religion. Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy are not earliest Apostolic Christianity, just as nowhere in the world today is Buddhism really observed as the Buddha would have wished, even the Theravada path is diverted, while Islam has gathered the baggage of the Hadiths and the writings of the older Imams

I saw some discussion about abortion so I have to make a quick point. A friend of mine pointed out the fact that the Bible states that life is in the blood and that there is no blood in the fetus until the start of the second trimester. I tried to confirm this independently but my Google-fu is weak. :/

The Bible states of LOT of things.  Best not to get into all of that. If we're to do everything the Bible says, life would be a lot different than what it is today.  So let's not pick and choose which little sentences to follow and then ignore others that we don't agree with.

So you're saying we should ignore the bible entirely?

He's not, but I am.  The bible should be dismissed as an outdated text, just like old science books are.  Hell, science books get outdated after a couple decades, the Bible is over a millenia out of date. It should not be the platform in which anyone dictates their life.

Bible is not a science book, its the book of morality :)

Great then maybe more people will leave their houses and look for employment.

If my federal government banned pornography I would leave my home with no other purpose than to wage war against the fascist administration. So I guess if you consider guerrilla warfare as an occupation then yes, banning pornography would help me to find employment :P

ah if the discussion comes to the bible, then this is relevant:

An outdated one..hell, a book of 'morality' from the 50's is outdated.  According to the times, Black people weren't people and women were meant to stay in the kitchen.

So, is the sudden spur of activity of people getting of the Internet to drive places going to create a boon in gas station jobs to hire all these people looking?  Anyhow, why do you care if people are looking for work?  Why would anyone care about people trying, whether they get anything done or not?

God's morals and rules >>> society's morals and rules. Ones are objective and eternal, and the other is not :)

santorum is not going to beat mitt romney. romney the moderate versus santorum the religious moral crusader.
mitt romney should win the race against santorum and make it a contest against obama.
