I know I am looking forward to a Star Trek style Holodeck, but as long as it is moving aroun in front of you TV then no I don;t think controllers are going anywhere.

yes when we are able to play a game through our minds where we can feel a gun, sword and whatever we touch as if it was real. I'm talking about the matrix here but thats still a long way to go

wait how do we even know if we are not playing a game right now and when we die we actually wake up to the real world :O

Yes eventually. Right now brain wave based controls have been in the works for years and while I don't know how much the big three are invested I know Sony was working on brain based control systems years ago already.

In the future say 20 years from now I am guessing we will likely have a hologram display maybe not Ala StarWars but it will be similar. With a brain based control system. That or the Matrix will occur another thing Sony has been working on according to reports I read years ago.

With brain based controls their will be absolutely no use for a controller. Rol is slightly wrong just like physical media will eventually disappear so will the controller. No it won't happen likely within ten years but it is inevitable Controls are not going to be needed once mind reading headsets are made or the Matrix is realized.

I am wrong?

You do realize that brain based controls may not work for people like you, right?

Lol. Good one ROL.

But he's kind of right. You think controllers will NEVER go away? Never? And your reasoning is 'the classics'?

They'll go away eventually. Might be in 30 years, 50 years, a 100 years, but their time will come.

What will they replaced by? Who knows.

@Play4Fun
Not everything has to disappear in the future. We still use things such as the wheel for a reason. If anything it will adapt in some way.

Not as long as the industry still lives.
