Well they did just randomly toss out that Celestia and Twilight can use dark magic, and out of the three of them Luna would have the most experience with using it and trying to control it, so maybe that?

I personally really like the idea of Twilight starting up with a new mentor, gives her something to prove to a new teacher again and gives Luna more screen time which is always a plus in my eyes.  

Think about this.  Celestia is the princess of light and the sun, Luna is the princess of darkness and the moon. 

Twilight's color is, if you look, kind of a balance between Luna and Celestia (Luna's dark violet, Celestia's gentle, light pink makes her mid-range royal purple).  

Twilght's ability has been magic, something Luna and Celestia are the masters of, and what she brings to pretty much every conflict in Ponyville has been her organizational skills and her sense of order. 

Twilight as the princess of balace and order?  

It would also fit the toyline perfectly. What would play better among little girls than the myth arc of a plain "girl" becoming a Princess?


Even the name "Twilight" is the tim ebetween day and night. It's perfect!  this stuff practically writes itself!

Oooooooh!!!!!! I want to watch the season premier so bad!!! But I have 2 tests and a paper due on Wednesday... So probably after that.

But no! I won't do it! I need to study! 

I know! This will be my motivation to study hard for my tests, and to work on my paper. It will be my reward. That will motivate me to work hard.

 I watched the first 10 seconds, then I stopped myself. I need to go to bed anyway. But it's okay, because today I downloaded a crap ton of MLP wallpapers and made an awesome mlp theme thingy

I really hope Twilight does not become a princess, or that the show starts to be about mostly her. They already have to scratch any heroic actions the six do each time so they can carry on with normal lives, this would be irreparable damage to the non-story episodes.

A bit of continuity in that regard couldn't hurt. Like in "Sweet and Elite" when all the Canterlot ponies are all "who are you guys? Who is this "Rainbow Dash?" It wouldn't hurt if they were famous in the sense of local celebrities or community leaders, where ponies aren't necessarily fawning all over them, but they at least know who they are.

I disagree.

PYHD wouldn't have worked if FS was still a world-famous model
Dash wouldn't work at all if the events of MMDW were kept
Ponyville has been destroyed a few times (SotC, SoME)

The show's lack of continuity is essential to it working as a children's show. Having even more epsiodes devoted to adventuring would actually be quite limiting.
