Mine is pretty good at home, the main problem here is that it is 3G so it is really up and down.

Home: Advertised 8Mb/s, actual 1Mb/s (BT sucks)

University: 100Mbit/s easily. They disallow P2P (even for legitimate uses like Linux distros) but direct download ponies are FAST.

I wasn't telling this thread to stop, it was directed at the kind of people who comment on Youtube or EqD.

100mb/s o.o How is that even possible in a university campus where 100s of other people will be using the connection at the same time? xD

It is good- but it seems to vary a lot; not to mention that nobody actually downloads stuff/uses youtube or anything on the school connection :p

 I'm resident in a College of the University, so it doubles as an academic building and hence has a direct fibre connection from my wall to the UK Joint Academic Network which is internet backbone.

It has to be that fast because, for example, the LHC at CERN produces gigabytes of data per second that are sent to each university that's part of the research project for analysis. The connections within and between the top research universities are superb, so they can transfer that kind of huge dataset around.
