Haha, nice! Does portable zeldas have a part in the cycle by any chance?

As a portable Zelda player, I can confirm that this is the case. If you asked Zelda fans, Link's Awakening>Oracle Games>Minish Cap>Phantom Hourglass>Spirit Tracks. Which is a shame, because Phantom Hourglass is really good once you accept it for what it is.

Yup, I never played the GB ones (watched some let's play of them), but even though I loved The Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass has some genius moments and wins by a landslide. Spirit Tracks follows the same path... and it's on the same level. In a way I'm already disappointed the new 3DS Zelda won't have stylus controls.

Yeah, I really enjoyed both Phantom Hourglass and Spirit tracks. They were unique experiences that could only be done on the DS. I really enjoyed the touch controls, they worked flawlessly once you got the hang of them, and they brought a bunch of neat features to the game. Personally I like Spirit Tracks more then Phantom Hourglass. Growing up I was always fascinated with trains, so being able to ride one in Spirit Tracks was like fulfilling a childhood dream.

I think that the touch controls/motion controls are the biggest reason why a lot of the older Zelda fans don't like these games. They're those gamers out there who refuse to play/enjoy any game that doesn't use a dual analog standard button controller. I can't tell you how many people I've seen complain on message boards about how bad Skyward Swords controls are, or how ackward and impresice the touch controls are for PH and ST.

Oh and thanks Salnax for answering Vicvipers question. :)

I'm an advocate for motion controls, Nintendo, and Kicking freaking Toad to the Moon!

The Zelda Cycle is psychological conditon that occurs to a hardcore Zelda fanboy everytime a new Console Zelda is released.

The cycle goes like this.      A new Zelda game comes out. Everybody starts picking it apart and complaining how bad of a game it is. While the previous Zelda came which was originally subjected to all this hate, now becomes loved, and adored.

For example: When Wind Waker first came out it was absolutely trashed by the fans. They hated the art style, the sailing, the limited dungeons etc. etc. It was basicly considered a disgrace to the Zelda series. The game continued to recieve this treatment until Twilight Princess came out.

Then Twilight Princess recieved all the hate from the fans. They complained about how unoriginal it was, how it was just a rip-off of Ocarina of Time ( despite them hating Wind Waker and clamoring for the newest Zelda game to be like Ocarina of time. Just watch the 2004 E3 video where Nintendo revealed the Twilight princess trailer, Fans literally cried during it. ) They hated the story, said the overworld was bland and boring, and just considered it to be a major letdown. They then started to claim how good Wind Waker was and how it was original and unique and one of the best games in the series. Trust me if would have gone onto a message board and claimed that Wind Waker was one of the best Zelda games when if first came out, You would have been eaten alive by the fans. But today if you made that statement many would agree.

Then of course Skyward Sword released, and once agains the harcore Zelda Fanboys complained. These complaints range from, hating the controls to hating the pacing in the game and everything in between. Of course Twilight princess is now look upon more favorably and many fans even say how it does a lot of things better than Skyward Sword.

5-10 years down the road Skyward Sword will be highly praised by most of the fans.

That is the Zelda Cycle in a nutshell.

Thanks for telling me how pathetic some people are.

Ninpie I expect to see a thread from you soon.

Why's that?

First off this guy is a whiner!

How about any Call of Duty?

Everyone who's played Black Ops just shuddered at this.

Wow... just wow...

5. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Maybe it's just because I was late to the party here, but I do not get this game. The shooting a 2nd rate Gears of War. The platforming is a 3rd rate Tomb Raider. The puzzles are impossible to solve until you check your journal, which gives you the answer. Not hints, the answers making them little more than those segments where you just walk in 3. Speaking of 3...

Again with the Wow.

6. Dead Space

The one thing this game has going for it is its polish. The shooting just feels right here, something that really surprised me since it was a new IP. The actual game they built around it is where the problems arise. It's kind of like the first Assassin's Creed in that respect, though not even close to that bad. It's decent. Decent, however, is not the kind of thing I'd give a 9.

This guy is just stupid. Plain and simple.

5. The Legend of Zelda: SS

A + Wiimote to swim. Why A + Wiimote? Why?

For those of you unfamiliar with this game, here's what it's like: fetch quest, fetch quest, dungeon, fetch quest, dungeon, fetch quest, dungeon, boss fight, fetch quest, dungeon, fetch quest, dungeon, fetch quest, dungeon, that same boss fight with a twist, three fetch quests, that boss fight yet again, with even another twist, fetch quest, fetch quest, dungeon... and that's where I am now at least.  How is this a 10? I get that fetch quests are a part of Zelda, but that's it. Exploring isn't as interesting as it was in Wind Waker or Ocarina, and no matter what anyone else says, the motion controls aren't good. They're good enough that it's playable, but I had issues the whole time.

This game... should not be on the list -period-

4. Batman: Arkham City

Before I say any more, let me just note that I loved Arkham City. Even though I like its predecessor more, it was everything a sequel should be: bigger, yet different enough to not feel like a retread. Hell, I only like Asylum more because of a few personal preferences, it's a tough call to say which is better. However, giving a game a six out of five is just plain ridiculous. Threatening to kill a guy because he said parts were pretty sexist is even more ridiculous. This game is great, but people really needed to calm the fuck down here.

I formally dislike this guy.

Because Walk thru wrote you a whole book and you gave him a 5 word reply! Lol

First off; it was more than 5 words. Second; sometimes that is all that is needed.

Oh Wow it really got a sequel

Man, I really hope Code o Princess sells well (and that it gets released west). After seeing that EPIC trailer, Media Create numbers for tomorrow are now very very important!

It looks simply fantastic! The character design and animation is top notch!

And, ahh, Metal Slug 3, the undisputed epithome of shooters - sorry contra! Release it on 3DSWare too, SNK! Please!
