White Tanooki Mario to The Rescue in New Super Mario Bros. 2

(..)

Super Mario 3D Land may not have tested series veterans in its early worlds, but by the time we got to the later levels — the real later levels — various members of the Nintendo Life team were faced with the temptation of White Tanooki Suit Mario. Dying five times in the same area made this power up appear, and Mario would become an indestructible force capable of conquering any stage without fear of death. The downside is that the achievement stars on your profile stop sparkling, so if you want to avoid that terrible fate you need to avoid too many untimely deaths.

(..)

That's not true.

Even with the White Tanooki suit you can still die. If you fall off a platform. I remember trying to beat this one level, dying like a gazillion times, and finally trying out the Tanooki suit. I thought screw it. Don't remember which level, but I think it was one of those with all the moving, falling and twisting blocks.

It didn't really help 'cause now I died a billion times from falling off of everything! I felt like the biggest n00b ever, dying while being 'immortal'. Did managed to beat the stage after a lot of tries though.

Nintendo considered second Circle Pad for 3DS XL

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has said that the company considered adding in a second Circle Pad for the 3DS XL.

Even though it was possible, Iwata believes that this wasn’t a realistic option. If another Circle Pad was built-in, it would have resulted in a larger piece of hardware. Nintendo wanted to increase the screen sizes and improve the battery life while maintaining a unit that is relatively small.

Iwata acknowledged that some consumers may be disappointed with the decision. It was nonetheless “a call we had to make”, and he is ultimately “quite happy with the product we’re able to offer.
”

“When we looked at the design of the 3DS XL we had to look at various factors, one was battery life, one was the overall size of the unit, and we had to make some trade-offs. The choice, if we were going to include the second analogue stick, was to reduce the size of the batters or make the unit much bigger.

“What we wanted to do was have a bigger screen in comparison with the overall size of the system, so had various discussions and had to make trade-offs and this is the outcome.

“Attaching a second analogue stick is possible but it would have made the system even bigger and, though it perhaps puts a burden on people that really want that second stick, it’s a call we had to make and these people will have to live with it.

“This [the lack of a second stick] isn’t my main focus when I look at the 3DS XL, it’s one point we had to cover, but for me personally I’m quite happy with the product we’re able to offer."

Iwata! You must break with tradition some times and do what people want.... I cannot say that I want it. But many seem to want that second pad.

Strange, they showed a white Raccoon Mario for the super guide thing in the trailer (looks great BTW)

So how can you get the White Tanooki then?

It's not a competitor; it's a Chinese rip-off. We get these every gen.

Two things:

1- How can that be a 3DS competitor is it only has 1 screen?

2-That Mario comic was awesome.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Damn.

Now there's two things I want from the Club Nintendo shop.

I have enough Stars to buy one of them, but I was saving to 7000 to buy a Mario diorama. I have 6400 now. What to get, a Mario Kart trophy, or a nice statue?

Yes, I did. It's a chinese rip-off just like many others. Even the Vita has one.

Oh, yeah! Look who's supporting "10,000 Strong" Megaman Legends 3 campaign!

Also, 3DS has reached 5 million units in North America!
