Developers seem to have become masters of making 2D games these days. I highly doubt they will let us down too much. Maybe not on par with a recently Mario or Rayman game, but it should do well!

To me developers became masters of 2D the day they made this, in 1996. No game survived more the test of time than these

Metal Slug sprites also have possibly the best animation in the business, outside of 2d fighters.

(Not sure if these show up on here, but here goes)

The sprite sheets for these are just mindblowing. True achievements.

Sorry if OT :x

I dislike "graphic kings" for that

15 years later those things are still impressive - that's like a century in video game time. Not so much most graphic kings when they are realistic...

*btw, that alien is from SNK vs Capcom 2, look how even it is less impressive than the Metal Slug ones - but it's still great sprite work.

Oh I think there's space for both, I was looking at early HL2 footage and am still impressed at how similar it seems to games 8 years on, both physics and aesthetic wise...I'm glad we have pixel and polygonal graphics to choose from, and everything in between!

hey Brian, are u interested in Heroes of ruin?
i hope the multiplayer is not region locked xD
im getting it this friday

heres a link for the Mario tennis region locked online affair

The great thing about great sprites is no matter how good they are, you can still see them as video game sprites.
The mistake today is to think of them as cartoons... that's my main complaint about Rayman origins, and others, for example
When they animate the sprites with vectors, instead of real pixel work... it looks nothing more than a glorified flash game
Rayman legends is trying to remedy this using a painted look, which is fine, but the characters are still variations of these, which could improve

Are you happy that I left the Lego Batman 2 video on autoplay Vic Viper? Seems like it could be as good as Lego City Wii U, besides the graphics.

I grow tired of complaining, so I just pressed the mute button.

I think Lego Batman 2 is going to be the best lego game ever, to be honest. It's quite guaranteed. City Stories will have a hard job surpassing that. It has potential.

^^^
GBA? hell no, although animation looks like GBA level tbh

what i dont understand is that "low production value=bad game", thats simply not true, from what ive seen the could be a masterpiece, even though it looks like a polished GBA engine
