Just to make things even more complicated
Intelligent System’s latest entry in the massively popular Advance Wars series has been given a new name for its forthcoming European release.
The eagerly awaited title, which will be released in the US as Advance Wars: Days of Ruin and in Japan as Famicom Wars DS 2 (which is in keeping with the Japanese name for the franchise), will now be called Advance Wars: Dark Conflict when it hits European shores in February.
So that’s three different names for the same game. Thanks for making our heads hurt, Nintendo! Still, given the excellent pedigree of the series and the promising screens we’ve seen so far, we don’t really mind what they call it.

Why do companies do this? I can see the need to occasionally change Japanese names for Western markets but why change the name between the US and Europe? It's not like the title contains a word which means something different in Europe and it's just confusing for consumers.
