I went to the other link and apparently the 3DS doesn't have power to run the UE3 engine.  So, the context came up to the Wii U and its power.  As far as being able to run the UE4 engine, I say it is best to wait and see.  Nintendo isn't about the most horsepower.  Nintendo is about sufficient horsepower to have fun doing things not done before.

Anyhow, your being off does happen.  Read something not quite right, then stick in your mind, and you end you presuming things.  It happens.

Technically, it has the power to run UE3.  The probelm is that, like the Wii, the graphics chips is largely a fixed function pipeline and not fully programmable which is a major factor with UE3.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

If the WiiU will be able to run UE4 I'll see that as a bonus! I hope it does, but I ain't too sure...

I don't really think it matters is the UE4 engine can run on WiiU or not. Either way there will be great games on the system.

But.... If Epic does with UE4 what it did with UE3, then it will be scalable to almost any platform including smart phones & tablets. Epic likes to make a versatile engine that they can sell for use in many areas.

But then again we still don't know what the final spec of the WiiU are....

I want UE4 on WiiU cuz of 3rd party support... If WiiU can't handle UE4 we might miss out of alot of good games, and worst case scenario we have another Wii on our hands...

I have BIG FAT news! A NWR exclusive! News that BlackNMild has speculated for the last week now.

I have a source, a super duper reliable source.

My source has told me directly:

That Epic is indeed running Unreal Engine 3 and Unreal Engine 4 on Wii U!

To clarify on what was said, it was more along the lines of Nintendo tweaked the Wii U to make sure it can run UE4, which would explain the recent bump in specs... and apparently Nintendo is still tweaking the hardware.
I can't say what development company. But my NWR friends this is the super hyper mega truth! Anyone else not from this site would think I'm a lying moron, but I think you guys know me better to be an honest moron! This should actually go in the Wii U thread! That's how concrete this is!

Doesn't look that diffi...fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-

Nintendo are still tweaking the hardware? Jeez, they're really keeping it last minute.
Not unlike they did with the 3DS I believe.

I can't imagine Nintendo being naive enough to not make the Wii U compatible with Unreal 4. Think they've learned from their mistakes with the Wii as far as alienating third parties. I still contend that the console could have sold PS2 like numbers if only third parties could have ported games over to it more easilly instead of allocating separate development teams to handle its games.
