Nintendo consoles are of course no strangers to the Assassin’s Creed series. Unfortunately, we rather wish they were strangers, as both Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery and Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles were guff DS games.

Third time lucky, then? We already knew that Assassin’s Creed Wii U was happening after Ubisoft and Nintendo made a big deal about it at last year’s E3. However what we didn’t know then was whether the game would be a knocked together ‘greatest hits’ collection comprising levels and storylines from Assassin’s Creed past, or whether it’d be a brand new game.

It’s a brand new game. Assassin’s Creed III Wii U has been confirmed today. Whoop! Without further ado, here’s the first Assassin’s Creed III Wii U trailer, albeit a cinematic one that applies to the Other Formats as well as Wii U.

The Assassin’s Creed III release date is confirmed as 31 October 2012 on other formats, which makes it highly likely that Assassin’s Creed III Wii U will be a Wii U launch game. Hey, could this mean that the Wii U launch date itself be 31 October? Speculation ahoy…

That's just the default first trailer for AC3... it doesn't even have WiiU mentioned in the end as it was made before Ubisoft started confirming a WiiU version.

Also, while I'm sure WiiU will look as good/better than PS360, I'm am 100% confident NONE of that video was on WiiU hardware.

I figured something wasn't right here, I noticed tthe lack of Wii U logos, and identification.  The news article made it seem like it was running on Wii U hardware. I guess you are right.
