Forums - Sales - What "Normal" people think of the 3 consoles

Rhetoric on here can be pretty heated with fanboys defending "their" platform and losing all balance and grasp of reality. So I found this thread with posts written by grown ups on a non gaming forum: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=482630 I think this is extremely well balanced, well informed and makes a lot of very valid points. Maybe some of you would like to read it to get a more balanced view of the real world.

Looks like "Normal" people like everything. I think I missed your point.

Sorry dude, these sound like gamers, not everyday consumers, I took my Wii home with me for the holiday, and now my parents, my sister and my uncle, all of who don't care much for games if at all, are now all buying a Wii, those are the everyday consumers that are being won over to the Wii, none of them care one bit about PS3 or 360, and all of them thought the Wii graphics were amazing

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Bruce: the mere fact that a hefty portion of these people are talking about getting two or even three consoles this quickly suggests that they are not, in fact, "normal" consumers. Like us, these are the hardcore.

There's pretty much no way to get "normal" responses on the internet -- because "normal" people don't post on forums about video games. If they consume video games at all, they consume them for a few hours a week, and that's it.

They seem to spout the same ill-informed nonsense as the average fanboy, but in a less aggressive (and therefore less comical) manner.

And Bodhesatva is right; normal people don't post on internet forums. :s

It is not a forum about video games. It is a car forum.
