As other have voiced previously...since the PS3 came out, it bothered me that I had to pay $60 for a game that came with a single-player mode AND a multiplayer mode. Becaue in many cases, I only want (or have time to) to play the singleplayer mode...and in some cases I only want to play the multiplayer mode.

Looks like Sony is testing the water, to see if this is a viable delivery potion...I for one, hope it is.

I fail to understand how one can buy a new game and disregard any of its different modes. Especially the single-/multiplayer modes!!

And we already have DLC which makes us buy incomplete games and now this? If this goes any further (which it probably won't) one might as well just buy each part of the games separately

It´s not like you wil have to buy the game and than the extra MP content, you can buy the MP without buying the whole game, but if you buy the game it will include the MP.

I would love the next Treyarch CoD game to separate its game into a $20 single player, $20 multiplayer and $20 zombies modes or something like that. I would then buy the multiplayer and zombies for $40 and forget about the single player.

Even though that's true in this case, there are cases like Dead Space 2 where you have no choice but to download multiplayer since it's not included or blocked on your disc(s). Of course there's positives and negatives from both sides though.

If it leads to a separate option for singleplayer only mode i'd prefer that more

I would like unbundling of SP and MP at least for online sales. Buy the disc and you get the full package, buy online and you can buy SP only or MP only or both.

It it was me I'd sell SP only for about 2/3 the full retail price and MP only for the same. If you want to later upgrade to add the the 2nd part of the game then you pay only 1/3 for the current full retail price.

I don't really care about MP and if I can buy the SP experience alone for less then I'd do it. Of course it would mean not being able to get the platinum trophy for some games like Uncharted 2 & 3, but that's OK, if I can save $30 it's worth missing the platinum. My kids like MP, and if they want it they can pay for it.

So, definitely works for me, aside from the downloading bit. They'll need to have much larger HDDs for full retail games to start to become commonly downloaded. It'll totally screw with VGC software sales figures as any kind of indicator of true sales performance for such games.

I didn`t knew that about Dead Space cause I haven´t played it, but isn`t Dead Space more of a Singleplayer Game anyway. But I get your there will be companies that will charge extra for the MP alltough you´ve allready bought the game for the full price. But there is an easy solution to that just don´t buy it.
