I plan to play something on my Vita from the PSP section but am undecided. Part of me wants to check out this Monster Hunter craze and thought it would be great since I have that 2nd analog stick, but is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite worth it?

if you've played gods eater or lord of arcana its the same, if not its like controlling a cluncky Dante. its main gameplay is quest base and you have to go get this or get that or kill this and shit. bottom line of the game, IMO, is to make your character as strong as possible through weapon and armor upgrades which can be done by obtaining by killing monsters. the flow is like this

1. get quest

2. kill monsters to obtain materials and shit

3. upgrade items weapons armors from materials obtained

4. complete quest

5. rinse and repeat

if your a sissy poo and dream of being a bad ass warrior then this game is for you.

personally, i dont like this shit, tried monster hunter tri on my wii for 10min and i never looked back.

Yeah, there is tons of grinding.... like this video, where he doesn't use any armor at all.

Oh yeah, I forgot that people play games like these to dream about being a warrior, and not for the epicly balanced challenge this game presents.

But...that's just my opinion, really. I prefer getting my kicks from beating seemingly impossible games over something like collecting stars, etc. Those games are fun too, but it's a different kind of fun. Lastly, yaknow, I can imagine getting pounded into the ground over and over in monster hunter wouldn't be fun for someone with no skills.

booya.

too bad i have crazy amount of skills.... in gods eater burst :p

If i'm gonna prettend to be a bad ass warrior with crazy make believe skills in killing seemingly unkillable beasts, i'd rather do it in stylish cloths and not go around wearing fur underwear

i have 260 hours into MH3 and no end of game or end of enjoyment in sight.  I can't wait for a portable MH for 3DS.

love Monster Hunter!

that said, I love MMO's....spent 9 years playing EverQuest.

I take it Gods Eater Burst is Monster Hunter with a different coat of paint?

Also, Freedom Unite, which Monster Hunter game is it based off of? MH2?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Complains about Monster Hunter.

Plays Monster Hunter the anime.

And I've played God's Eater on my friend's psp. While I'll agree that the clothes are more "anime", the game is much easier. You even have NPCs help in battle.

Talk to the hand, girlfriend

Yes, it's monster hunter 2. The unite comes from being co-operative. The freedom comes from like wifi, I think.

And yes, he's complaining about monster hunter while he plays monster hunter: the anime.

When capcom had a demo on psn i tried MH and didn't like it at all. It really feels like MMO without massive part.

MHFU doesn't have WiFi.

Maybe if I hook my PS3 up with the ethernet cable I could use that Ad-Hoc program on PS3 to play it. Not sure, I may still give it a shot. That or wait for a version with WiFi on the Vita.

Even though you already decided... I would totally recommend Monster Hunter! It is a really fun game and for sure gives you a lot of things to do. :D

Don't bother with Monster Hunter at all unless you can play it co-op regularly or online. The single player is fun but that's not the meat of the game at all. MH3 is the most balanced one with the most improvements of the ones out over here, as well as good online (community is still active btw), so if you want one, get that. Just be aware there's a learning curve and going "ohhhh god why is this sword so slow goooood this is so hard omg" early on isn't the best mindset for this game.

If you really want to butter up your pooper though, get Corpse Party.

Gonna play Corpse Party when I get home. Have you tried it?

I also have MH3 on the Wii, but I can't ever seem to gain control of the TV anymore, which is why I was thinking of checking it out on the Vita. I prefer dual analog and skipped it on PSP because I'll be damned if you expect me to play with that claw shit.
