Forums - Nintendo - Resident Evil's success on the Wii so far

If Capcom is smart....

They will simply do this.
Release RE5 on PS3 and Xbox360, and then....

release a Wii port CALLED RESIDENT EVIL 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EVen if its a slightly different game with watered down graphics
using the RE4 engine

If you call it Resident Evil: The Curse of BLAH BLAH BLAH YAKITY SCHMAKITY
You can guarantee less copies sold.

Then if you aren't satisfied, Make another RE game side story using the RE4 engine, sell another 500K,
More money for Megaman Starforce games.
(Sigh)

Predictions For Last Full Week of Sales in 2010)

WII - 80.35 Million

360 - 43.88 Million

PS3 - 41.40 Million

More terrible predictions coming Jan. 2011!!!

Unlike MH3, Resident Evil is a proven franchise on Nintendo so I doubt it will enrage fans.

I mean that many people (myself included) bought a HD console for games like RE5 and FFXIII and announcing RE5 to be switched to the Wii will seriously frustrate PS3 and Xbox360 owners, even enrage them. I agree though that if Capcom is smart and really want RE5 to be a masterpiece, they should get it on Wii. I mean, RE4 Wii Edition was spectacular and that was a 2 year port with tacked-on controls! Imagine a built-up RE5 Wii! No ports from the Xbox360/PS3 version though, thanks.

I'd love the chance to choose a "downgraded" version with wiimote controls over the "superior" graphical powerhouse controller version personally.

Why must it be one or the other? Gamecube had tons of resident evil games and i'm sure the Wii will probably get just as many IMO.

given both options, you would choose a wii version over the 360/ps3/PC versions? see, i don't understand that = i would love an re2 remake on for wii though :)

I would too. Gamepads suck for 1st and 3rd person shooting games. I would settle for a PS3 version with keyboard/mouse support or a PC version.

Look Resident Evil debate over what version anyone will buy to what system is just wrong by my side, anyone to his own console thats what i believe. I also like a resident evil 5 version on the wii because i want to see more good third party games on the system that can take advantage of the wii remote. Capcom proved with RE4 on the wii the controls evolved the series even with a port for a game that was released 2 years ago and still got 9 everywhere on press. Just imagine the possibilities of resident evil 5 exclusively on the wii Capcom can harness what power the wii have and maybe we would get the best graphical achievement on wii, second great motion controls and ir targeting which there faster and better for the player and more fun. Third the game will have the opportunity to get played by people that would never had played Resident Evil game before so a chance for Capcom to achieve better sales. Thats my humble opinion on the matter and i truly believe that we will see Resident Evil 5 on the Wii as we are going to see a MGS 4 version on x360.

It's a tough choice, graphics over controls, but I had so much more fun with RE4 wii than with the Gamecube version (even though the game wasn't new anymore) I think I'd choose the Wii version as well. Especially since I consider RE4 still agreat looking game and if RE5 wii would be an improvement over RE4 it would be good enough for me (now all they have to do is have a Metroid/Medal of Honour bounding box to make the controls perfect).

In the remote case RE5 will be ported to Wii, I think Capcom is smart enough to make a quality port and not one with a Far Cry Vengeance kind of quality.

I second your RE2 wish (in fact RE3 and code Veronica as well).

i don't know but i suspect IF there would be a resident evil 5 for the wii
they would make a big leap graphic wise

it just wouldn't be the same. could you imagine playing re4 on the N64?

>given both options, you would choose a wii version over the 360/ps3/PC versions? > >see, i don't understand that = I know I would. I would if the control scheme brings more fun to the table. I don't really care about highdef graphics since I've been doing better than highdef on my pc for quite some time anyways. It is the controls that make/break a game for me. Games like MP3 and MOH2 have been some of the most enjoyable games I've ever played because of the Wii controls. Would I prefer a PS3/360 version of Prime 3?? Heck no. As for RE, I would prefer direct user input with the IR pointer for shooting, along with intuitive motion controls and analog-stick movement.
