I think it's empty because you lost some points for your last HYPE series

My last HYPE thread wasn't AMY. Besides, I already closed most mouths here with how Heavy Rain turned out (both commercially and critically), although I don't really care to seek any credit for how people took in the game here.

In 2012, just from my observation, people would rather bicker over sales and crowd controversial topics and it's no wonder a lot of the more respected posters on the site have stopped making threads like this, or have have stopped posting altogether. For me, this will be one of my final contributions to the site. After David Cage's games next two PlayStation games are announced/shown off at GDC, and The Last Of Us releases, I won't be making topics anymore and posting in other threads mcuh less.

Why would you use this as your last game? Talk about going out with a wimper

And I don't remember a time on any game forum ever where people didn't flock to controverial threads, that is why they are called contoversial after all because they stir up controversy. And one of the main points of this forum has alwasy been to bicker over sales, that is not new at all. The forum is currently on a bit of an up turn with some of the older posters coming back and some interesting new faces, so while it is not as active as it once was with interesting posters it's not too bad ATM. I think you may be looking back with rose tinted glasses.

And despite the meh ness of the game this thread is about at least you can take comfort in it getting a better response than most of mine... I am lucky if I get 5 replies that aren't mine, let alone on topic.

Now I guess if you aren't going to do it I guess I should do a Far Cry 3 thread there is a bunch of new info on that and it's multiplatform so i might even get 10 replies!

Now this is a story all about how
"military" shooters got twist-turned-upside-down
and I'd to take a minute to express my share
of why Ghost Recon's hype has fallen these past 5 years.

In Tom Clancy's mind; conceived and engraved
Ghost Recon’s games retained skill and tact in its plays
Duckin’ prone, scopin, commanding your crew
And all shooting some tangos like spec ops do
When a couple of guys who were up to no good
Started firin’ rounds in my neighbourhood
I got one in the gut and my HUD disappeared
It said “You’re Dead! Mission Failed”, I bawled tears

I waited for E3 07 and when it came near
The hype machine said “COD” and had a 4 in the rear
It took the industry by storm and gave me a fear
But I thought “naw forget it.” Fast forward 5 years!

I don’t think they’re bad games, about 7 or 8
And I’ve held my view cuz “Yo holmes, I’m not a hater”
I look at the recent release of IPs I reveer
COD has affected them all is what’s abundantly clear

In plain English, I believe the reason this title is going so under the radar is that the crowd that loved and appreciated the Prince of Persias, Rainbow Sixes, Splinter Cells (and this is just using Ubisoft's IPs) of yore have been left feeling burned at one point or another. It's no secret that the military shooter genre has been largely transformed to cater to the largest base of fans of the genre and it's only logical to think the same will come of this latest Ghost Recon. Our (or at least my) lack of visible enthusiasm for Future Soldier is more a safety mechanism so as to not feel burned again. That's not to say I plan on going in looking to be disappointed, I'm simply not putting a whole lot of stock into what's being shown, be it positive or negative in my eyes.

With that though I'm liking what I see to an extent. The animation work looks pretty solid and all the gadgets and customization have been a staple of the series' tactical approach to missions. Much like ME3, I'm assuming they're opting to show more explosive action sequences to entice a certain crowd while leaving the deeper subtlety of the gameplay for us to discover and enjoy. I look forward to reading post-release opinions on the games' gameplay more than anything else and will make my decision on whether to take the plunge after I have more information.

Thanks for sharing all the info! I hope you continue updating this thread for those of us who do wish to see more with convenience.

still love the content cgi. well done rap t

I'll think about it. Surely it'll receive more attention than this place has!

i wouldn't be to sure about that considering how my official Bioshock thread is going. i think it has like 7 post that are not my own.

I never liked Ghost Recon or any other stealth shooter.

CGI, u should make a Hype thread about Dragon's Dogma because that game deserves recognition.

Then what are you doing in a HYPE thread for just that sort of title?

CGI hypes, Slimebeast gets curious.

The cover system seems quite nice. Ubisoft games drop in price quite fast here in Canadia. So i'll definitely check it out. Another game that i am sort of looking forward to is Spec Ops: The line. The name could not be more any more generic though.
