Good grief at 13-2's second week in the US. 75k second week, compared to 225k for FF13. In total after 2 weeks in the US FF13 was at 1.04m while FF13-2 is at 493K.

It is easily going to end up as the worst selling main title in the series since it went 3d and started getting proper Western releases. Hopefully Square will realise what massive damage 13 did to the Final Fantasy brand and get rid of the writers. Releasing 13-2 was a big mistake as well, strangely for a Japanese company they have entirely focused on short-term profits and not thought how releasing the game will impact the long term.

The games aren't bad at all though. It's just the internet hates them and this is making people think the games suck, which they don't.

People like you are to blame. People who haven't even played these games and just go with the hate and spread it like AIDS.

That is completely wrong and for (2) reasons.

#1.) What goes on the internet means little outside. Just because some people vent about FFXIII and FFXIII-2 on the internet doesn't stop my neighbor from checking the game out.

#2.) FFXIII was terrible, thus people refuse to waste $60 on what may end up being much of the same.

I haven't bought FFXIII-2 yet and you know why? It has nothing to do with the internet or people's hate. I just won't give S-E $60 for the same terrible, fast paced, no time to think battle system and terrible, whiny, chringe worthy,  crybaby voice acting about "wah wah, I want my sister back". Hell, Tales of Vesperia is an action RPG, but it still gives you time to think and plan. There is little to none of that in FFXIII... just run forward, get into a battle, then hit X, then watch the long cutscene. Rinse. Repeat.

FFXIII-2 may have changed some of this up a bit, but the same basic ideas are still present and people still have FFXIII fresh in their minds.

There is a time and place for the whiny drama, but not for a large chunk of the game. FFXIII was absolutely TERRIBLE in this regard and it seems FFXIII-2 is no better. The writers need to seriously go, not to mention S-E need to go back to the drawing board and make a JRPG worth spending money on, because it ain't FFXIII-2. From what I gather, the drama in FFXIII-2 is like FFXIII but Serah whininig for Lightning like Lightning used to whine for Serah.

I'll grab it when it hits $20 within the next 30 days.

Horrible numbers, especially in Europe...but then again, USA looks way too high if NPD is correct

Brett isn't adjusting to NPD, it'll be interesting to see February numbers, they were mega high this time last year.

Has anyone mentioned the sheer inaccuracy of this sites numbers in that FFXIII-2 supposedly had 450,000+ preorders and yet after 2 weeks has sold 350,000.

Wow the Wii is already down to 80k.

360 is doing absolutely horrid in Europe...we'll definitely be seeing some sub-20k weeks in Europe this year.

I never got why people got behind preorder numbers in the first place, I find they are usually crap.  The thing is you can cancel preorders, so its not a great number to go by in the first place

1. The game wasn't terrible. In fact I actually kind prefer it over XIII-2. Why? 13 was linear and you alwasy knew where to go. XIII-2 has a lot more freedom and you can get lost and you even get to fight high-level monster at low levels when you have no chance of beating them. I prefer the straight to the point linear 13 honestly.

2. Whiny crybaby voice acting? You're exagerrating. If you really hate the voice acting that much, mute it and put on subtitles. Most jRPGs are cheesy and cringeworthy. If you were a jRPG fan, you'd know this by now.

3. If all you do is that you'll never beat XIII.(did you even beat it?) You also have to do paradigm shifts and choose which characters to put in your party. There's a decent amount of strategy there and way more in XIII-2 with the monster system.

you gotta let it go man, you like it and thats okay, but a LOT of people didnt. Thats not just the internet, the numbers for the sequel are showing that people are just not sold on the 13 franchise.
