10 years in prison? lmfao!
I would love to see someone actually go to jail for downloading a Justin Bieber song or something. Would make my whole year!
Hooray for ever-pervasive government controlling what you are allowed to do on the internet!
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

with pirates it's like two birds with one stone.

The problem is that it sets a terrible precedent for the government's ability to alter and shutdown websites.
Imagine what happens when labour websites are shut down because they are deemed against the current government. We fought against SOPA/PIPA in the US and won, yet it seems that the UK is going through with nearly the same kind of actions without any vote.
Ultimately, the value of freedom is in what extreme things can be done, even share/pirate music. Yes, there are legal ways to deal with violators, but going in and shutting down the websites is very terrible precedent.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Choose 1. Or both. Or a subsection of either/both. etc. etc. I'm not naive.
This is horrible. This is why I and others fought hard in US against SOPA. While I'm fully against piracy, this is not a path we want to take as honest people either. It gives too much power to the government to simply remove anything they deem against their interests. It starts as what people feel are illegal activities and then turns into anything against the government like wikileaks or news sites or blogs, etc.
Don't glamorize this type of crap. Even if you disagree with something whole heartily, you must fight for the right to preach it.
