Well, I'll be damned. Son of a bitch came with an 8GB memory card! I already have a 32GB card, and the starter kit came with a 4GB card. I'm in memory card heaven!

You buy games and stuff you know of that you don't have the time to play them. That's a sure sign that you are spending too much money on video games. |
He's just stocking up on games for the next apocalypse. That way he'll have enough games to play for the next... decade or two?
I've been bamboozled! I've been hoodwinked!! That "carrying case" that came with the starter kit is as thin as a sock!! I guess it stretches around the console or something. They put it in this huge, really thick box when nothing in the entire box is thicker than a blue ray case. This starter kit is going back tomorrow. What kind of bullshit is this!!

The lack of AV out does seem like an odd omission, but I'm thinking if TV connectivity is what SCE wants for the PSV, I don't see any reason why they can't do it wirelessly via the PS3. And while I'm well aware that not everyone who buys a PSV will own a PS3, the level integration the two seem to have makes one an easy purchase if the other is already owned. |
Me and my brother were talking about this a few weeks ago. That would be the ultimate featutre for me, and I'd get a VITA immediately. I mean, I know it's a handheld and its main draw factor is portability, but I'm a grown man with a car. Where the hell would I play it outside of my home?

Seriously. Look at this thing. I looked just like my leather PSP case that I can't live without. Instead, it's some sort of sock. How the heck did they even get the thing to stand up!? Mine doesn't have that car charger but it does have a 4GB memory card that I never wanted. I bought it mostly for the case and the case is just a millimeter thin piece of fabric. I can't take my PSV to work, tonight. It'll be smashed to bits!

May as well start buying your games on the PSN Store then.
As inflated as the memory card prices are, proprietary format and all, I did a rough estimate and realized the "buy your own storage" option isn't that much worse cost-wise than buying retail chip games.
Figure a lot of PS Vita games are about 1GB meaning, you may be able to store about 30 games on a 32GB chip at about $100. PSN Store "discounts" for DD games tend to be about 10% or $3-5 per game. So, for about 30 games with an average DD discount of $3 per title, that's $90 off retail, or $10 over the cost of a 32GB card. The difference increases with the lower storage cards.
Of course there are still a lot of people who insist on having physical media to sell or just like to display all their game cases, but some of those with hundreds of titles, who generally don't sell old games (hooray for collecting/hoarding), don't want to make their living rooms look like GameStop.
Technically, you don't need to keep everything on memory cards though. Just what you want immediately available. Sony's Content Manager Assistant makes it easy to manage and store games/content without keeping everything on memory card. Works on Windows or Mac too. The Content Manager also allow you to juggle multiple PSN accounts on your PS Vita by creating a backup of any account set up on the PSV, which can be restored at any time.
In a nutshell, set up account A on PSV. Create a back up to PC. Remove account from PSV. Set up account B on PSV. Create a back up to PC. Restore account A to PSV whenever wanted. Restore account B whenever wanted.

It depends on where you live.
If you live in the city and you generally get around on foot, bicycle, public transit, then the answer is wherever. If I had to take a train to work every day, it's a safe bet that if I wasn't on the web I'd probably be playing a portable game. When I did medical coverage at the firing range, I usually had a handheld on me for when nothing was going on.
But if you work at home and live in the middle of nowhere, and you don't have to wrestle anyone for the remote/control of the TV, then yes; the whole concept of portable gaming kind of loses its point. Then it just boils down to whether there are any games on that handheld that you can't play on any other platform.

I figured as much.
I couldn't find any pictures of any other angle of the case that game in the kit, so I assumed that one was just a sleeve to protect from scratches.

Yeah that case sucks, too bad you didn't see my post before you left because the case I got from the other starter kit is excellent.

Then instead of that sock use one of your own. Surely with 32GB of porn you have at least (1) sock lying around that should be stiff enough to protect it from a drop or two.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
