Forums - General - Singer Whitney Houston dies at 48

The unofficial word was that she would take Xanax before a performance. No illegal drugs have been found. It is believed that she may have taken the drug, mixed with alcohol, passed out in her bathtub, and drowned. One site said that half a dozen prescribed medications were found in her bathroom. Sounds like a lot but my ten year old takes six different medications. She was supposed to have been clean from illegal drugs for quite some time and I hope that was the case. I like to believe the best in people, especially when they are no longer here to defend themselves.

Anyway, I was one of those people who saw her star rise to iconic status. If I had to list all of the top black female vocalists of all time, she'd be in my top five favorites as far as influence (Mary J. Blige, Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Lauryn Hill) and pure talent (Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Lauryn Hill).

Every year, it seems like we lose somebody who could be considered "The greatest" of all time. Steve Jobs, Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, Whitney, etc." It just goes to show that we are all mortal. Make peace with your fellow man while you're here because you aren't promised tomorrow.

So I guess Kevin Costner will be looking for a new job.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

Can't say I'm affected by this, her high points were before my time and all I've heard throughout my life how far she has fallen.

Slightly off-topic, I've been looking for that thread from a while ago about predicting the next celebrity death - somebody might have nailed this one.

That's disgusting.

I find it interesting the way celebrity has to die for people to actually realize they still exist.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Is it me, or is the new thing for Pop stars to get themselves killed?

I feel for her, but these people do it themselves... its hard to care.

Why do people with so little problems turn to drugs?

This hasn't come out much yet, but she use to be involved with women.  She had a really hard time committing to one woman and really struggled.

She grew up singing in a Baptist Church and they are not know for being supportive of gay and lesbian people.  (Just look at the wacky one in Kansas.)

Yes, it looked like she had everything: Money, Talent, Looks, Fame, a Career, yet if you can’t accept yourself many people become self destructive.

I don’t know if she sort of hated herself and chose a bad guy or the drugs to marry as some sort of self punishment/escapism.  Maybe she did love Brown and he was trying to help, I don’t know. She did have a daughter so it’s just kinda sad the way her story ended.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Music Icons that didn't make it past 60. If left anyone out, God bless!

Life is dull without problems.
