Your parameters for declaring a leader are weird. I could make a counter to the million sellers by saying that the Wii is the leader by having 799 100K sellers while the Xbox 360 and PS3 have 690 and 620 100K sellers respectively. So in my example, the wii has more dedicated, varied, and accepting audience willing to try different games compared to the 360 and PS3. As for quality, different strokes for different folks dude.

I'd argue that it is hardly mainstream on home consoles.  Portables?  Sure.  Home Consoles?  No

Just look at the sales of the first 2 which were on the PS2 (the highest selling home console system ever).  They couldn't even manage 1 million in sales combined.  Now look at MH3 on the Wii.  It has now passed 2 million sales.  So it has sold 1 million+ more (on the Wii which has far less system's sold) than the first two games combined.

The PS2 MHs had NO kind of advertisment whatsoever and they were basically steatlth released, at least in the US

Actually even if you look at software total the only reason Wii might keep the lead till the end of the gen is that every Wii sold out of Japan was bundled with one and then two games...
Right now VGChartz has the following :
Wii : 774 millions
Xbox : 608 millions
PS3 : 516 millions

Remove bundled software and the 360-Wii gap is probably around 100 millions or less.
if you look at the latest fiscal in 2011 PS3 shipped about 50 millions units more of software than the Wii and 360 numbers can't be far off the PS3 so the 360 has a legitimate shot at catching up with the Wii...

ya well you know what. many of wiis games got under rated . and no respect at all even the good ones.

so its no wonder why it has 2 less then the ps3 but marioparty 9 is going to be 1 more . plus maybe some other title .

that still dont make wii a bad platform because its like i said before . games were severely disregarded by the hard core no matter what . -look at no more heroes red steel conduit 2 red steel 2 zack and wiki madworld the list goes on and on . also theres 1000 plus wii games so it is way easy to pass on whats good plus parents who dont play the games themselves are know to buy boring/bad games we all remember those birthdays lol thats another factor 95 million wiis but many of them minus my 6 wiis , lol are being played by mostly kids who dont use the internet and parents /elders who work out . and hardly play games.

nintendos titles are always the main sellers on a nintendo platform but snes was pretty good on the third party side so maybe wii u will be what nintendo said . i expect it to because if the rumors of a 500 dollar 720 w a tablet like controller are true no ones gonna buy a 720 for 500 if they can get closely the same stuff now on the wii u

I don't get why so many of you are expecting the situation to be any better with the WiiU.

The WiiU is expected to release with specs equivallent or slightly better than the current HD consoles.

Then 1 or 2 years after the WiiU, new HD consoles will release with specs 5 to 6 times better than the current HD consoles.

With that in mind do you expect third parties to be able to port titles for all 3 platforms , 2-3 years from now ?

Cut that shit out.

1) It's a new console in a new generation.

2) Only fanboys expect this. Anyone knows that a console built with 2009 or later technology is going to handily whip 2004/5 tech. It's not even possible for 360 and PS3 to be in Wii U's league.

3) That's exactly what the Sony crowd said about the 360, and how the PS3 coming a year later would make it a million times more powerful than the "Xbox 1.5!" That didn't happen then and it's not going to happen now.

4) Of course, if they're smart. All this talk about scalable engines doesn't make sense if they're not, you know, scalable.
