yea, maybe we'll get that PS-Phone. or Vita Phone.

Going to need some better battery technology or you will never be able to make a call.

I take it you never gamed on an iPhone or Android device? Gaming on an iPhone kills the battery faster than gaming on the Vita.

I wonder how long the Vita battery lasts without playing games. Has anyone tested that?

forever.... it would be switched off.

I was referring to leaving it sitting at the OS main screen and not in a game. The discussion I was having was in regards to battery life compared to that of a smartphone. I was curious that since the Vita can outlast the iPhone or an Android device while in game, which would outlast the other if left sitting at their main home screen.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

That was my point. If they released a Vita Phone then you would kill the battery through playing games mainly thus not having any battery left to make calls.  It is pretty much the same as playing games too much on your iphone or android and killing the battery.  If you try and use a device for calls and games then you better have a bad ass battery (I have an android by the way and played a few free games on it).  That is all that I am saying.

Is there a phone out there that can last a while when gaming and using it for calls? I know my Galaxy S doesn't last very long and I game on it A LOT!

I also was unaware that your point was that a Vita phone would be used 90% of the time for the games. I wrongly assumed it was written as to say that a Vita phone would have poor battery life when gaming compared to other smartphones if used at the same rate whether it be for calls or for gaming.

My apologies.

As for a "Vita Phone", all we would need is a beefed up Xperia Play with the ability to play downloadable Vita titles.

why does that matter?

Read the conversation I was having. The initial part of it was talking about a Vita phone, then someone said it would need a better battery. Then I said that when gaming the battery outlasts that of any stock smartphone (Phone without an extended battery), so I then was curious what the home screen battery life comparison would be like.

The entire conversation there is about phones and how Vitas current setup would compare, even though it can't make calls.

As for why that matters, it is quite simple. Just ask all the media outlets who spend all their time comparing the two.

I have a feeling that the Vita's phone will be announced a year or so from now. Sony will not want to waste the platform if it fails to succeed as a stand alone console.

That's reasonable - we have around 1-2 years before high end mobiles reach PSV processing power then probably another 2-3 years before mainstream phones get there and at that point of time they should have PSP3 launching and PSV going into the todays role of $100 PSP
