It's an "extended demo" of Portal for anybody with a Nvidia card.  All you need to do is download Steam (completely free), and Steam will detect what's in your system.  If you have a Nvidia graphics card (pretty much 50% of the PC market does), then you get Portal!  Well, an "extended demo" of it anyway...but it's free!

I have an ATI card and already own Orange Box, so I don't care, but you should check this out if you can!

It's a lovely move on Valve's or Nvidia's part, not sure who would get the credit.

Really though, what the hell does this mean for ATI, considering they're the ones who pushed to have their brands associated with Half Life 2 in the first place, no matter what's happened the glory has always come back to Nvidia, and yet Valve stay by ATI.

Is this for the US only though? I just launched Steam and updated but nothing happened.

Extended demo? Bah! I was getting hopeful of an expansion, remake, or sequel that I hadn't heard about.
