PlayStation 3 firmware 4.10 announced [Update]
Improved web browser.

PlayStation 3 will soon be updated to firmware version 4.10, enhancing the internet browser and renaming PlayStation Network accounts to Sony Entertainment Network accounts.

The update includes:

  • An improved internet browser – optimizes the display of content and increases the accuracy when viewing page layouts. Some sites that previously could not be correctly displayed, including interactive websites, are now supported.
  • Auto-sync time – every time your PlayStation 3 system c onnects to PlayStation Network, you can now set your system to auto-sync the time and date.
  • PlayStation Network accounts will be renamed Sony Entertainment Network accounts. The registration process and credentials will remain the same.

The download will be 180mb. It has not yet been released, but usually, it comes out the night it’s announced.

I haven't used the browser, but Netflix is broken on my PS3 now. When Netflix is launched, the screen is black and I can't do anything except press the PS button and back out to the XMB.

I've been forced to try and use the browser lately and it kept freezing my slim PS3. I hope things actually works now,



 Go Team Venture! I still don't get the Wii, PS Move,  and Kinect.

The browser works fine now on vgchartz, no problem with the forum buddy or typing this on the ps3. It is still pretty slow though. Still faster on my pentium 1.8ghz laptop with firefox.

I could not get ps3youtube.com to work in hq with the new browser. I followed the steps to add the cookie to enable HD playback but all it does is show me the contents of the cookie. I had not done it yet with the old browser so maybe if you already enabled it before it will still work.

Hmm text entry is really slow, The letters of my last paragraph are still appearing 1 by 1 as I type this...

What? Uncharted 3 worked on my phat from the day I bought it, and that included online MP and local co-op.

Anyway just downloaded the update. I don't use the web browser for much so I'm not sure I'll notice any difference. If it still doesn't support flash media player then there are some video websites that still won't. I wonder of some sites I've visited where it says you need to upgrade to the latest Firefox, Explorer, Chrome or Opera will still display the same message.

Why not just go to normal Youtube.com? IT works now....

Youtube has always worked on PS3, just now its sized correctly.

 

In general ive noticed that if Java scripted is left on everything runs quicker than when its off.. opposite of post update brower
