Forums - Gaming - Just brought a dreamcast today! what games should i consider

Hey guys, was in a 2nd hand store today and picked up a dreamcast, 2 vmu's, 2 rumble packs, soul calibur, dead or alive 2 and house of the dead 2. I even got some controller cable extenders!!

What games would you guys recommend, im particularly looking for games that would hold up well today gameplay wise. Apparently games like shenmue were amazing because of the graphics back in 2000, but now thats its all old, the cracks in gameplay show through, however if any of you guys think its still a good game feel free to recommend it!!

Im excited to see what you guys suggest. thanks in advance!

Bangai-O - If you like shmups, this is a great game.
ChuChu Rocket! - A great game for short multiplayer sessions. =)
Crazy Taxi - Idk, it's just really fun to play (especially the Crazy Box challenges).
Crazy Taxi 2 - See Crazy Taxi
Seaman - A weird but fun little game, you have to play it every day to make sure the Seaman doesn't die though.
Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future - Just an amazing game.
Grand Theft Auto 2 - It's GTA, what else is there to say? Oh, it's top-down btw.
Guilty Gear X - A very good Japanese fighting game.
Ikaruga - Another good shmup.
Jet Grind Radio - Good action game with some nice music too.
Mortal Kombat Gold - Great fighting game, it's Mortal Kombat 4 with some extras.

There's way more, but I've got to go now. I will post more later. ;)

Resident Evil Code: Veronica - It's my personal favorite RE. BTW, while your at it get RE 2 & 3, they are great ports.

Shenmue - Still looks good, still a great experience. If anyone tells you it hasn't aged well, they just don't understand what Shenmue is.

Crazy Taxi 1,2 - More fun than you'd expect

Sonic Adventure 1, 2 - Don't listen to the haters, these games are still fun. Just don't expect Shakespeare.

Sword of the Berserk: Gut's Rage - Hack'n Slash based on the Berserk Manga.

Metropolis Street Racer - Ahead of it's time

Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2 - Tons of customization

Grandia 2 Beautifully old-school JRPG.

Skies of Arcadia - Amazingly good and totally underrated. Needs a sequel bad.

Looney Tunes Space Race - Damn fine "kart racer" just add friends and you'll have a blast.

MDK 2 - Funny and fun, but hard.

Phantasy Star Online - Luckily you don't need to be online to still enjoy this game.

Jet Grind Radio - Just play it, it's hard to describe why it's so fun.

Imports: Headhunter, Rez, Shenmue 2, Ikaruga, Boarder Down

Freaking Yes! Those are it!

Chu chu Rocket was probably the best puzzle game on the Dreamcast. Crazy Taxi 1 and 2 were just pure fun. Ecco of course, I agree with Toxics Guilty Gear game, Jet Grind, yes Yes yes!

Try these first my man!

What was that game that had the guy with the scar over his eye and he had a huge sword? Not Legacy of Kain.

Sword of the Berserk: Gut's Rage, one of my favorites. I loved the manga/anime it's a side story to. I can't wait for the new anime series reboot. Berserk doesn't get enough respect.

Wow, nice games. I always wanted a DC, and now that I see this thread, I might actually buy one. A person who lives nearby is selling one for ~ 50 Euros, plus 2 controllers and 8 games. Also the cponsole is in perfect shape, so IMO that would be a great deal :D

Rez - One of the best Rail Shooters ever. E. v. e. r.
Samba de Amigo - A quite fun rhythm game.
Segagaga - An awesome rpg about Sega.
Shenmue - Amazing Adventure right here.
Shenmue II - Even better.
Skies of Arcadia - An amazing rpg, though I've only played the gamecube version so I don't know if the dreamcast one is just as good.
Sonic Adventure - A platformer with a wacky camera, but it still plays amazing.
Sonic Adventure 2 - One of my favorite games ever.
Sonic Shuffle - Mario Party, but with Sonic characters. It's really fun.
Space Channel 5 - A relatively good rhythm game.
Space Channel 5 part 2 - A better rhythm game.
Swords of the Berserk: Guts' Rage - A good hack & slasher.
Zero Gunner 2 - A good shmup.

Try to watch some gameplay vids on youtube to see if these appeal to you, but to me these are really good.

Skies of Arcadia is a must, one of my favourite RPGs ever.

All the games listed in the other meddages are good (if not awasome!)
I'd like to suggest, if you like GT like games, Sega GT.
And Virtua Tennis 1&2.

AstroMaSSi rules

Power Stone (believe there are two on DC)
Virtua Tennis
Crazy Taxi
Sonic Adventure 2
Shenmue
PSO

I recommend the GC version of Skies of Arcadia over the DC one, but for purists the DC one is the way to go.

Also give Grandia 2 a go, but do play the first game before playing 2.
