This back and forth thing about which console won 2011 is getting tiresome.

Well as far as shipments are concerned you are right but sold to consumer is still too close and could go either way.

We won't get a full picture until Q1.

Sony plan to ship 2m PS3, so if MS ship 1.5m then it really looks like they won. But ..

If we see something like 0.6m or something terrible then it's evident they overshipped.

I still think PS3 won (not by as much as we've got mind) but Q1 might yet surprise us.

Assuming you mean "sold to consumers" as MS definately won the shipped battle for 2011.  I know what you mean.  I'm putting that on ice until we see Q1 shippments and whether we see adjustments.  If MS ships close to normal Q1 then personally I'm going to assume 360 sold more to consumers, if they ship below normal levels then I'll assume Sony won sold due to overstocking of 360 in US for December.

No idea where VG numbers will settle at this point.

1 thing we can all agree on is that,
Xbox360 + PS3 > Wii

Well, they're going to be down over last year for sure, as they were replenishing the channel. They normally ship in the 1.5 - 1.7m in Q1, not 2.7 they did last year.

Extrapolating sold-through estimates from shipment numbers, especially when it's this close, is an educated guess at best. Like I said on another thread: 'We might never know'.
