this is pretty bad, but Game aren't competitive any more, they need to find a way to get people to buy their games over using Amazon, without them losing too much on profits :/

They need to start closing down unnecessary stores. My hometown has 2 within 3 minutes walk of each other.

Yeah i agree, in some places there are 4-5 Game stores when they could easily have 1-2 and receive the same amount of business with less than half the outgoings!

Yep. Near me there's about 4 game and 3 gamestation. All cost more than amazon which doesn't help either.

I can't say that I'm surprised to be honest. They have too many stores, a dodgy reputation with many and are uncompetitive on price.

The last time I used GAME was for Zelda Spirit Tracks in late 2009; and that was only because they have and error on their website meaning the special edition (just a large steel case and two figurines) was £25, instead of the £35 or £40 they meant to put it on as.

Zavvi is where the game's at.

Online? I heard they were the worst, games taking weeks to be delivered ect

Quite the contrary actually. I've been using them for a while now, and they offer a very good service. Deliveries are all free with Royal mail first class which arrives within 2-3 days (you can pay a small price for next day). Plus they always have offers going on and cut game prices very quickly, like Gears 3 is on for £19.99 now I believe.

Not surprised. GAME are awful. Always the most expensive. Only reason I ever use them is when they get pre-order bonuses.

In the Uk I can't believe there are people who don't use ShopTo. Always have good prices, have a great reward scheme, give you a little cash back if games you pre-order don't arrive on launch day and every single game I ever ordered from them has arrived at least 1 day before launch.

Amazon are the standard and pretty good but nothing special. They also have some pretty bad policies in regards to guaranteeing games for launch day. I.e. If it isn't there launch day or they flat out cancel the order at the last minute then it's not their problem.

Zavvi..... ewww I can't believe people would even bring this one up. Beyond abysmal. My favourite was when my friend pre-ordered Darksiders weeks in advance with them. I ordered mine a few days before release with Amazon. I got mine on launch day and his didn't arrive until a week after launch and cost more lol.

Seece is definitely right that they need to close down some shops. I forget who they took over (EB?) but years ago a load of shops were converted to GAME resulting in two shops often being within walking distance of each other.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

Hope they go bust personally, since they make no attempt whatsoever to be competetive with even other bricks and mortar stores, charge as much as they possibly can. The managers are all jobsworths and the goons are nerds. Generally unpleasent place to shop since the past 4-5 years.

Game is a rip off, hence the poor profits. I suppose people are more "smart" these days with money, so they actually spend time checking online to find the best deal instead of nipping down to a highstreet store which has the price about 10-15% more.

Supermarkets have also become more aggressive in selling video games at competitive prices, and I suppose Game/Gamestation loose a lot of their custom there, and also offer trading in prices better than Game usually do.

Overall well deserved for Game seeing as how much of a rip off it is, they buy the game off you for £15 or w/e then stick it on the shelf for £35, business I know. The only bad thing about this whole ordeal is the fact that many employees will be affected as a result. I feel sorry for the employees, not the company and its policies.

Agreeds, apart from the staff bit.

I can't imagine there's too many people who have a career at GAME (teehee...a career as a shop assistant). The managers are all wankers and deserve to be sacked, speaking very generally on that but I've been to a fair few GAME stores over the years and never met a polite customer orientated manager, but have met plenty of arseholes who talk to you like dirt.

GAME UK was said to be responsible of the absolute mess that happened a few months ago for the WH40K: Space Marine release in the UK. GAME UK pushed THQ to an exclusive deal, threatening to stock no games if it was released on any other retailer, Steam included. So us customer awaiting the game to be released on Steam, were left without info and without game. It even happend, that the ones who had preordred it couldn't even play it, simply because WH40K : SM had been removed from the list of games...

I personaly go often to videogames shops for used games deals, or for specific preorder on highly anticipated console games.

They need to start closing down unnecessary stores. My hometown has 2 within 3 minutes walk of each other.

There's also 3 in the Trafford Centre (for those unfamiliar with it, it a major shopping centre in Manchester). Considering where they are positioned, I can get having 2 but I dont understand why they have a third.

Then in my local town centre, there are two - a GAME and a Gamestation. Can understand that, as they are different brands trying to attract more shoppers. But why are they next door to each other? Defeats the purpose of having a second store in an area, and just acts as one over-sized outlet.

I remember not too long ago a Gamestation manager telling me all 360 games were 1080p unlike on PS3. Oh how I chuckled.
