Forums - Sales - Xbox 360 Europe vs Ps3 USA Sales

I was just searching in the home page and stuff and i found this interesting...

USA :

PS3 4,468,855 (-4%) 19,881,557

Europe :

X360 4,104,632 (0%) 19,832,004

Looks Like 360 is as big in Europe as Ps3 in USA, so why is 360 so powerfull in USA ? By this years ends 360 will close to 40M in USA and probably 24M in Europe.

X360 7,476,541 (+5%) 33,063,320

If it stays Flat this year with Price Cut and New Cod, Halo 4, New Fable, New Kinect Games 360 will pass by 40M in USA wich is insane :o

Just who will win... Ps3 in USa or 360 in Europe.. :p

That's pretty freaky, after such a long time on market both are at the same point (although PS3 did release a year later in USA.

I have no idea who'll win, PS3 isn't promised a long life in the US (Latin America ect sure)

But then MS really need to stay on their toes in Europe to actually compete there.

PS3 in US I guess... more time to sell cosoles (the X720 came first).

MS still has that magical price cut to come...

Very hard call as they are so close and each market isn't their strongest (that you're asking to compare).

I suspect PS3 will just take it if - and it's a big IF at this point - Sony keep it on the market in US longer than 360 stays on the market in Europe - i.e .they launched a year later and they keep PS3 relevant a year longer than 360.

In terms of your other question as to why 360 is so strong in US I'd have though that was obvious:

1 - it launched first and was able to take the lead in market-share gathering
2 - it launched with better online/online games in line with what US market was looking for
3 - it has been cheaper than PS3 for most of their time on the market
4 - it didn't have the handicap of potentially being saddled with a dead format to deter early adopters
5 - it's early launch and good SDK meant developers produced better technical versions of their game for 360 vs PS3 for quite a while
6 - Kinect was successfully marketed as something new vs Wii rather than Sony's more Wii Too Move motion controls (although I'd argue by the time Kinect/Move launched the 360 already had it in the bag in US)

Given the above the 360 became the first choice for a lot of US gamers and the PS3 took too long to 'catch up' in terms of online stability and features, price reductions and quality of games. Once it was well behind it was always going to stay well behind.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Now you said everything! xD

Price cut, massive Halo 4 marketing and your gonna see 360 outselling ps3 in Europe alone, nevermind NA!

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Back in 2008, when 360 had its last price cut (i mean wow right?), it outsold PS3 in Europe alone. At least from September-Dec when the price cut actually happened.

Thats right...I just backed up a seemingly ignorant statement with facts :)
