| Reasonable said: Very hard call as they are so close and each market isn't their strongest (that you're asking to compare). I suspect PS3 will just take it if - and it's a big IF at this point - Sony keep it on the market in US longer than 360 stays on the market in Europe - i.e .they launched a year later and they keep PS3 relevant a year longer than 360. In terms of your other question as to why 360 is so strong in US I'd have though that was obvious: 1 - it launched first and was able to take the lead in market-share gathering 2 - it launched with better online/online games in line with what US market was looking for 3 - it has been cheaper than PS3 for most of their time on the market 4 - it didn't have the handicap of potentially being saddled with a dead format to deter early adopters 5 - it's early launch and good SDK meant developers produced better technical versions of their game for 360 vs PS3 for quite a while 6 - Kinect was successfully marketed as something new vs Wii rather than Sony's more Wii Too Move motion controls (although I'd argue by the time Kinect/Move launched the 360 already had it in the bag in US) Given the above the 360 became the first choice for a lot of US gamers and the PS3 took too long to 'catch up' in terms of online stability and features, price reductions and quality of games. Once it was well behind it was always going to stay well behind. |
Now you said everything! xD
