Forums - Gaming - EDGE: Final Fantasy XIII-2 review

In typical EDGE fashion, they awarded the game a 5/10. This is the same score they gave for FF XIII.

After playing the demo for over 4 hours, I have to agree with this score.

"This is a big game, clocking in at about the 40-hour mark, but the lack of challenge in combat combined with the formulaic missions and frequent cutscenes too often make it feel like a sticky trudge. The visual and audio design is marvellous at times, offering up the kind of setting that you drink in before taking a single step, but the journey is always the same. The apparently open structure disguises a simple closed network of locked doors and narrow environments, while the ATB system is wasted on enemies that would struggle to defeat a corpse. Perhaps this is indeed the gameFinal Fantasy nuts thought they wanted, but surely even they’ll be disappointed with the result. [5] "

At least both Edge and Square-Enix are being consistent, in their own ways.

LOL in fairness to EDGE that game is exactly a 5....average at best.

Good.

hmm maybe versus will revitalize the series.

Pretty good. That's like a 9.5/10 from IGN.

Whatever.

I'm more hyped for 13-2 than 13.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I am going to like it anyway

I wonder if Versus XIII or the inevitable XIII-3 will get a better score... We all know its coming after SE's "people want sequel's, not new IP's" which is nonsense!
