Forums - General - Should pandas be left to face extinction?

Pandas are adorable animals, and one of the most well-recognised animals on the endangered species list. As far as animals go, the panda is pretty useless - they find it very difficult to breed, spend around 10 hours a day eating bamboo (a resource that is in short supply), and can't do so much as walk up a shallow slope because...well, they're very fat.

Despite all this, it would be a real shame to lose the panda, but is it worth the cost of conservation- or should we just leave natural selection to run its course?

If we left natural selection to run it's course, the panda wouldn't be facing extinction in the first place.

Pandas are too cute to go extinct. )=

This is a natural process for many species throughout our planet's very long history. I think the Panda has simply evolved itself to extinction. Unlike animals like the whale or similar, a Panda is simply on its way out. A study of its reproduction habits easily prove this. Panda is not a human caused extinction, therefore we should let it run its course.

Panda's seem rather hellbent on destroying themselves. We can't force them to breed.

Wait, I understand and agree with your premise, but how did you get to that conclusion?

Of course not! How will we learn about Sexual Harrassement without pandas?

Humans have far less impact on the Panda than the Panda's own evolution.

We are not hunting them, like whales and Rhinos.

We have preserved over 46% of their original habitat (source WWF).

Any other species on the endangered list thrives if we leave it alone and give it habitat. The Panda still dies off.

This is natural extinction and we should let it run its course.
