Forums - Gaming - OXM: Dear PC graphics snobs - you're holding gaming back

So the author of this incoherent and erratic article is mad at a group of random PC gamers who post PC vs. 360 comparison screenshots on online forums and he thinks these people are holding "gaming back"?

Congrats to all those PC graphics snobs => Achievement unlocked: "Easy Catch".

That's the perfect analogy for them!

I couldn't give a toss about PC gaming, never have, never will.

Consoles, a comfy sofa & a quality controller FTW.

PC games can look amazing if programed properly. It has amazing particle effects and more can be taken to scale. If anything keeping the PC alive would help the console market. If anything should be blamed its the video-card market. Its so saturated and a new video card coming out every year toating the "best of the best". What makes many people like pc gaming though is attention to detail that console will eventually have.

Also PC games do look better, but that is not what makes them better in my opinion. What makes the PC games better is the ability to to mod appropriate games. If all games allowed the use of a mouse and keyboard I bet many pc gamers would play console shooters more also. The accuracy of a mouse is amazing.

Bit rubbish TBH - but the twisted English of "increasingly rare dry spells" did make me chuckle.

Also, the logic on which the entire article is founded is shaky to say the least.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Sure, you can play your PC on your sofa.

But at what cost Pezus?

PC's for gaming are more hassle than they are worth.

Upgrade this, modify that, blah blah.

pff what a stupid article, the tens of millions of people that buy COD every year and nothing else is holding games back. Not the small minority that brags about how much better modded Skyrim looks...

Considering that games like Skyrim use the exact same assets for PC as console it's not like it's making games cost much more. Especially aparent when games like The Witcher 2 only cost $8 mill to make and COD costs $50 million a pop...

The article writer is clearly just jealous of PC graphics so made up a stupid argument to make himself feel better. Or maybe he wants us all to go back to playing PS1 level games with no voice acting or prerendered cutscenes because they are cheaper to make. Having games with good graphics does not reduce the number of unique innovative games at all anyway for every Crysis there is a minecraft and for every uncharted there is a That Game Company game.No amount of big budget blockbusters and people bragging about better graphics is going to kill innovation, just like Pixar's and Transformers mindblowing graphics hasn't killed indie movies.

If you didn't know you can play most PC games with a controller and in a sofa, using your big-ass plasma TV

Plasma TV? I highly recommend you don't.

Don't know if this applies to newer plasmas, but my friend has the windows task bar burnt into his, it looks so funny.

Newer high end plasmas have good anti burn in features but I still wouldn't reccomend you use it fo a PC monitor unless you only use it for gaming/watching video

It's a pretty stupid article. You get the odd article like this towards the end of a generation which is always funny considerring this whole gen has been a massive war of graphics between the HD twins.

The funny thing is that the author of the article completely ignores the benefits of better technology in everything but visuals. Remember how revolutionary the physics were when Half-Life 2 & the gravity gun came out? Because that would have been possible with PS1 technology...
