Forums - Gaming - Anonymous Threaten To Take Down Xbox LIVE Servers, Youtube, Facebook, PSN. Edit: CBS website taken down and more

We really should be clear when addressing notions of "hacked," "attacked," and "DDoS'd." Mostly anon has been running around DDoSing, from what i've seen, which is the equivalent to punk kids egging your car. Yeah, it's annoying and you have to clean it up, but what is it really doing?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Damn, blinked and missed a couple of more short, useless attacks on websites nobody visits.

You have a good point.

"Hacking" is radically different than, "DDoSing", even a 12 year old could quickly learn how to DDoS a website/service if they really wanted to.

Unless you DDoS a site/service everyday of the week, in the end it's a forgettable act.

Updated OP with new info. CBS website was hacked apparently and then UniversalMusic.com

Why in the world UniversalMusic?

Because they supported SOPA.

So they are attacking averyone and anyone who supports SOPA? -.-

Yeah they attacked a bunch or sites a couple of days ago (even the FBI)

But hey I don't care if they do it to companies that support SOPA because they deserve it for supporting such a heinous bill.

They shouldn't be attacking them though. I agree it's a ridiculous bill but taking sites down? No. Especially the FBI.

Eh, they're hardly attacks anyways. They are pretty much only down for a couple of hours due to them overloading the servers.

It's bascially like a mosquito bite...annoying but not a big deal.

Yes, but things can still go seriously wrong in a couple hours. :)

Yeah but who seriously looks at those sites anyway let alone is effected by them being down for a few hours. It's not really any different to a site being down for maintenance.

I guess. It's still annoying and childish though.

Seems like anonymous  is distributing some of Sony's music and movies in the internet (maybe even hacking their databases to get some of it?).

Only petty attacks huh.
