Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft comments on lack of new Xbox 360 exclusive IPs

Well... I don't think that Microsoft's strategy is BAD... the numbers prove it... but what help them last year was some problems on SONY's side like the PSN outage... and a lot a Strong third party games that are strong on the USA.. and Kinect being the casual "boom" right now too...

But I don´t think that it will work twice... so this Year they could need something more than a Halo...

The numbers only prove that they have more reason to keep ignoring gamers because they would rather not invest in creating games. They suck at internally creating hits so they would rather let third parties do the work for them and fund their games if anything whilst keeping some of them exclusive. This proves of their lack of gaming knowledge and what gamers want (they have not a clue outside of social gaming). See witcher 2 and Alan Wake to see what I am talking about. Halo was being created before Microsoft even got their hands on it. It was being created for Apple. Alan Wake was in creation before Microsoft even offered to publish it. Sony, Nintendo, or Sega never had it this bad.

So what?  3rd parties make better games anyways, cause that's all they do.

Dont you think Sony knows that as well? Who do you think profited off of Nintendo and Segas ignorance towards them (third parties) when Microsoft wasnt around? Sony. Microsoft has tried to mirror Sonys strategies and its working, but their charm wore off after 2008 after Sony .a miserable year and a half of existing without key titles but still having hot new IP with horrible marketing.

In Nintendos defense they create new ways to play. Microsoft never created Kinect, Sony turned it down and Microsoft scooped it up from under them. Just shows you that Sony is more focused on what a peripheral can do rather than having nothing but casuals using it for one or two games.

In Microsofts defense... They did allot of software engineering which *is* the hard part, especially to make all the Kinect processing incredibly efficient on such a low-powered processor.
Essentially it's just a bunch of sensors/cameras with a micrphone, making them all talk to each other and recognise things in real time with as little amount of latency and processing/memory usage overhead as possible.

Sony isn't as skilled as Microsoft in software engineering, it's Microsoft's bread and butter afterall being primarily a software development company.
Sony's forte' has always been in the hardware, hence why it's Operating System consumes more resources than Microsofts on the Xbox.

Sony though basically just copied and improved on the Wii's style of motion control but wen't about it's implementation a little differently.
Although it's still great it's still not nearly as ground breaking as the Wii or the Kinect on release, most people view it as a Wii clone.

....Um.....Sony wasnt impressed at Kinect because they had the Eyetoy and it they didnt believe core gamers could use it. Their respect went to Nintendo so they took what Nintendo innovated and added it to their technology they already had. The move is far more accurate than the Kinect, but to its demise its harder to use and more core friendly. Its a Kinect + Wii mote on crack and you actuall have to move when you use it. The Wii motion plus had to be created to combat how good the Move was because Nintendo knew the Wii wasnt 1:1 tracking. Sony has been using video tracking in gaming since last gen. The only thing kinect has over the move is more cameras and voice acknowledgement. Simply put, the move does what Kinect or Wii cannot do withouut each other. It can scan you while you're playing and provide depth and complete control in an augmented reality environment or even 3D. Hell Sony even has 3D TV's and glasses which two people can use the same TV but feel like they are using two different TV's.

I was on it today at Best Buy with a friend playing Motorstorm. It was freaking amazing. Sony has the right idea and I can confirm how amazing their products are.....they just suck horribly at marketing them. I never knew the 3D TV was that great. The commercials are more entertainment than educational where as Microsofts marketing makes the 360 look like the place to be when truly the only true place to be on it is Live and even that will be open season next gen when Sony can make the PS4 have cross chat because the PS3 cant handle it. Sony needs to bless the casuals with some games because they are proving they care more about the core than the casual by leaps and bounds. You may like Microsoft or Nintendos games more but the steadiest provider of quality exclusive titles this whole gen has been Sony.

ehh wrong the reason Wii out sells ps3 and 360 for the majority of the gen is

well your sorta wrong cause you only listed 1 reason
add to that
1-split screen support i scream and yell at microsoft and sony. where is the split screen - you know for 10 yrs down the freaking road when online is no good! thats just not an option any more these days with majority of titles. my wii games will still be used even when wii is long gone you see . im playing my xbox at caugh 142 am , a 6th gen cosnole because it has single player oriented games . along with somthing called split screen that extends the life of an old console wouldn't those who played snes agree with this to

2 not only did wii offer excellent first party single player and multiplayer expeirence it also is home to what i call its own selection of third party games not counting mini game collections its got a healthy line up

3 price it is cheaper . far cheaper in fact i dont know why a 360 which is 7 yrs old . still cost 300 -400 in some cases. - while ps3 is 250 -more fair price for a rather newer console lol
even wii is the same age nearly but is half the price of both.
its absurbed. ms gets away with selling consoles near launch price -300 was the same price i paid for mine so ya whats up? when they gonna drop the price? at this rate looks like a ps4 720 would be expensive as hell!
and to think wii u is going to be 600 ehh wrong. if anything that would be the 720 judging by the 360s current price! and ms refuses to drop it because people are buying it

Yes that would make me very happy and more confident that I would invest in a Xbox 720.
