maybe the important part here is that they mention "active" accounts, so these accounts must have done sth (probably logged in) within the last days/weeks/month - depends on their definition of "active"

I assume there are a lot of dead accounts not included in the 40million

You'll need to bookmark that post now kowen, but not Sony is spending big bucks on Vita marketing they won't bring it up anyway, typical!

14.2m to go (shipped) till they reach 80m, shipped 14.9m this year. Wonder if with a price cut they could reach that goal. I think it'll probably miss it, and hit 79m~

If they do hit 80m or the late 70's, that's damn impressive and they'll defintly crawl over the 90m mark. If they're determined enough they could aim for 100m, of course that depends on the market and their will. I think it's a pretty important milestone to go for though.

they only included active accounts so the 40m users are actually real users not some accounts getting dust... If MS counts all accounts its probably > 100M.

If anyone is interested, the EDD has made over $3.5b profit since the 360 started profiting in 2008.

why?

people went on the attact (the usual suspects), they were being arogant and demeaning with their comments acted as if what they said was fact, and what the other person said was impossible and stupid. it always seems like it the same few people with their condesending smug remarks.

Yeah your sentiments are right, and I apoligsed to Pezus, doesn't mean you can call people dumb though (and it isn't dumb, this was still an unlikely scenario despite it actually happening, going by last years events)

It was one of those situations were a fan of the opposite team predicted something unfavourable and got lucky.

Respect +1 for Seece. Always good to see open discussion and people willing to admit being wrong.

OT: Congrats to MS, incredible numbers.

im completely shocked and speechless, over 66M users, lets go till IGN to edit there article to sold not shipped, ect ect.

all the past announcements where in line with VGC sold idk why the change up, so Sony need 7.3m to tie and 7.4m to out ship MS for total 2011

MS definitely has had a good year in the profit department.  I'm hoping Sony can get its act together in 2012 so it can start posting some profits again.  I think its been a little over a year since they reported a profitable quarter.
