Could be referring to Nintendo entering the seventh gen so late with the Wii U that they will have to skip the eighth generation altogether.

wii U will be on the market for at least 6 years by that time the ps5 and xbox1440 will be out so I guess Nintendo might skip the 8 gen completely when they launch wii Us

While I would bet that this rumor is 100% fake, if a company was bowing out I would bet on Sony ... For no other reason than they're in pretty rough financial shape.

actually ...... SONY did say alot rest on the success of the Vita..whatever that suppose to mean...

I can see MS having more of an entertainment box, but no way have they built up their 1st party (lacking I know, but still there) and continue to do so (4 new studios in 2011, plus expansions) to exit in a couple of years.

especially as by the time the next xbox launches, they'd have made $2 -$3+Bill on the 360 ecosystem.

And the only way Sony would leave is if they went bankrupt.

I very much doubt this is true.

However there is a part of me that looks at the brutal losses the PS3 caused and thinks there is simply NO way Sony could afford to ever do that again. However my prediction is simply that it will be a lower cost console and all the hardcore tech will be gone.

It certainly isn't out of the realms of possibility for Sony to become third party in the future but I doubt it will be the next gen. My guess is a more reasonable PS4 and then Sony will decide what to do based on its performance.
