Forums - General - Spartacus TV-series worth it?

The show is incredible imho (hence the avatar). The first episode is horrendous, but the rest are either pretty good or absolutely amazing. Sure Rome was a much superior show and deserved all its awards, but Spartacus is a much funner show.

To anyone who hasn't watched the series, don't start with the prequel. It's only great if you've seen the first season. I watched the first episode of the second/third season and wasn't really impressed, but i'm sure that will change soon.

i have been looking at this show and walking dead, i guess i should start, they seem good

Okay, I just watched the first episode of Spartacus Blood & Sand and I liked it a lot.

The production values were low, but they did the best they could do with the resources they had and while the actors were a bit poor, the backdrops looked unnatural (albeit sometimes on purpose) and the scenery and effects were cheap I got hooked by the whole thing and enjoyed it. The main guy was sympathetic enough to root on and the nemesis was sympathetic enough to not just write him off as the clichéd villain.

Very much looking forward to the 2nd episode which I will watch tomorrow.

It has aired several times in Sweden on TV6.

Oh. I seldom watch TV, only put it on casually and there's never something good on so it seems I missed it.

Speaking of Swedish TV, has The Borgias series about the Borgia family in Renaissance Italy started yet on Swedish TV?

Any re-runs of The Tudors? And Game of Thrones, have they shown that yet on a Swedish channel?

Hmm... I've never seen any of these so I think not. I don't have too many channels though so I may have missed it.

Still pissed as hell that the main character died in real life

the new one has a huge roll to live up to

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Its my faviourite show on tv. nothing quite like it, until now of course with emerging shows like Game of Thrones and the Borgias.

Nice to see another Game of Thrones fan. I think you just named the trifecta of the only drama I watch for a whole season. Kinda liked the Wire, sorta liked Boardwalk Empire, watched the pilot of Homeland. But none of them have grabbed me. Of course I'm a big fan of the Game of Thrones books, well before it was cool and a TV series I might add, so I'm very pleased to see it converted to the small screen. Buying the Blu-ray of GoT S1 when it comes out of course.

Bugger the Starz website has blocked Ep1 for anyone outside the USA. I'll see it eventually. I do love the scripting and the way they use language in a way that's completely different from any other TV shows.

Shout out to the considerable New Zealand involvement in the Spartacus, from actors to production staff, even some of the directors for some episodes. A lot of old hands from Xena in there, including of course Xena herself, and the Xena series creator.

How is everyone enjoying the new season?

So far, its been good. Liam McIntire (sp?) is a shadow of Andy Whitfield... No where as good, but servicable.

Really excited for episode 3. There has been tons of killing in the new season - and slightly less nudity so far.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
