Forums - Nintendo - 3DS' Third Party Future

To another pro-Nintendo topic, I'd say the 3DS' future is looking fairly bright, both in terms of first party and third party titles.  This year we'll be getting:

LUIGI'S MANSION 2

KID ICARUS

TALES OF THE ABYSS 3D

METAL GEAR SOLID 3D

KINGDOM HEARTS 3D

And with any luck, more could well be on the way.  That and with reports of the Vita not doing anywhere nearly as well as 3DS in Japan, I expect Japanese development on the 3DS to pick up.  Thoughts anyone?

You missed Resident Evil Revelations.

Yep, the 3DS is looking to have a very solid year ahead of it, and this is before E3.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

You forgot about Elite Beat Final Fantasy!

Is it gonna be RPG or is it gonna be like Super Paper Mario on the Wii?

See for yourself!

I gotta say i think Ubisoft and EA are going to put their shit on the 3DS for the foreseeable future.

Well i suppose that has to change at some point, right? They're clearly not comfortable with supporting Nintendo consoles properly.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Nintendo seems to have, to a point. No info on it since E3 after all

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

On the eastern side, the future looks very bright:

Level 5, wants to release Time Travelers, Fantasy life, Guild 01 this year, also at some point we will see Prof Layton VS Phoenix Wright

Square has Kingdom Hearts and Bravely Default

Capcom has RE:Revelation and Monster Hunter 4

Konami has Metal Gear Solid 3D (tought I wold have like more a re-edition of peace walker) and Beyond the Labirith.

Other than that we have Tekken Prime Edition from Namco, and Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die from the 999 creator.

On first party side it's possibly even better with Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion , Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing, possibly Smash Bros at some point.

On western side, on the other hand, I don't see very much going on. Aside from Rayman Origins port I can't name any other interesting game. I think west developers decide which platform they'll support mostly basing on tools and tecnologies they can use. Since 3DS is uncapable of running Unreal Engine 3 and similars they won't spend much time on it. Also, they're too much focused on HD gaming. At best, they'll wait to see how good games like Resident Evil and Metal Gear will perform, than decide if it's worth to spend some resorces on 3DS.

Honstly the only western company who has some potentially interesting imo games is EA with SSX, Burnout and Dead Space.

Well, for 2012 it looks really good
Now, what I want for the 3DS, even if we have a ton of high quality AAA titles, I just want to have more of those smaller, and strange titles like the DS did.

freebs, Western developers have never really cared about handhelds.
