Easily PS3. Gamecube was Nintendos darkest age. I am not a fan of the Wii at all, but game wise it is way better than the GCN, and has been much more of a joy to own.

PS3 on the other hand has been Sony's best showing from a games only point. It has got all of the amazing franchises PS is known for, and Sony has built the most skilled, and innovative game studio on the planet. Little Big Planet, Heavy Rain, Infamous, Killzone, God of War and Uncharted are all timeless.

Most importantly, I go back and play Xbox, PS1, PS2, NES, SNES, N64, and some handheld games. I have not hooked up the GCN since RE4.

While it can be argued that little big planet, heavy rain, god of war and uncharted are timless, there is no way in hell infamous and killzone are.

The bare minimum for a game to be considered timeless imo, is for it to either be innovative in some sort of way (like LBP and Heavy Rain) while stil being fun for its target audience or be the best in its current genre (like Uncharted and god of war).

Now im not saying those games are indeed timeless but atleast they have things going for it that can help it become timeless. Whereas infamous and killzone are neither the pinnacle of their genre currently nor are they innovative, some would even say they lack fun.

Not to bash on killzone or infamous (check my game collection and scores) but i just cant see how you came to the conclusion of these games being timeless.

On topic : PS3 FTW.

Intel Core i7 3770K [3.5GHz]|MSI Big Bang Z77 Mpower|Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1866 2 x 4GB|MSI GeForce GTX 560 ti Twin Frozr 2|OCZ Vertex 4 128GB|Corsair HX750|Cooler Master CM 690II Advanced|

IMO the PS3 has amazing games of high quality like Uncharted and also has quantity with 3rd party support with games like COD, Assassins Creed, Elder Scrolls....etc. PS3 wins easy.

Of course the Gamecube has its share of gems like Resident Evil 0 and Super Smash Bros Melee but its nothing compared to the amazing library of the PS3.

An angrypoolman thread about PS3 vs Gamecube, I was sure this was a necro bump from like 2008. In 2008 it might have been close, now it isn't even a question.

In terms of Power and graphics: PS3
In terms of what it can do: PS3
In terms of Third Party Support: Playstation 3
In terms of First Party Support: Equal imo
In terms of Controllers: The Playstation 3 Dualshock

Also by comparison of sales to Wind Waker, according to VGChartz (cause I cant use any/too lazy to find another source) , Uncharted 2 sold more than Wind Waker (of course not sure when sales numbers for wind waker was stopped).

Kinda hard to compare two systems of two different generations its like comparing the NES and the PSX, you really cant compare the two. Its like comparing apples and oranges.

The Gamecube controller is the most comfortable ever made.  I would take it over a Duakshock any day.

Yeah the gamecube controller was pretty good, I would say out of all the Nintendo consoles, it had the best controller.

It was comfortable, but the shoulder buttons drove me insane, along with that springy C stick.

Never had a gamecube so I'll go with the PS3.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Well PS3 obviously. Nintendo didn't lose billions trying to make people care about Gamecube though.

Sony wanted to dominate the industry. Nintendo apparently just wanted to peddle their games.

I think it's hilarious that people are trying to compare them directly against each other as if they're market rivals.

You can't compare them based on graphical or computing power.

You can't compare them based on functions or abilities.

You can't compare them based on anything that wasn't available last generation.

The comparison would be based on first party titles, third party support, how well they did in their respective generations, their lasting influence, and their success for their manufacturers.

Based on those four characteristics, I would rate Gamecube, PS3, PS3, Gamecube, Gamecube, respectively.

(1) It's hard to argue against SSBM, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, and Pikmin 1 & 2, amongst others. Sony's titles don't reach across such a wide spectrum and aren't as highly regarded nowadays.

(2) Gamecube received very little third-party support, and what they did was mostly multiplatform support.

(3) PS3 has sold nearly triple what the Gamecube did, hardware-wise.

(4) Gamecube's influence was that it made Nintendo decide they had to do something drastic. If it weren't for Gamecube doing so poorly, Nintendo wouldn't have gone into motion controls, and without that, we wouldn't have Kinect or Move either.

(5) Nintendo stayed profitable through the entire lifespan of the Gamecube. Sony, on the other hand, went very red for a very long time with PS3.

Lol stupid argument really, the freakin Dreamcast was better than gamecube. The only games on gamecube I wanted at one point were viewtiful joe (came to ps2 anyways), and the original concept for Zelda, but then they released the piece of s.......t windwaker (yes i tried it and couldn't stand it). I rather go back to LTTP than the abomination that was windwaker. The raw power was there but execution mediocre at best. MGS twin snakes had potential but too dumbed down and easy compared to psx MGS, so in terms of the meat of the title (gameplay) MGS PSX>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>gamecube twin snakes. RE 1 remake was interesting at best but dunno, the original had its charm and difficulty that I loved. Bad controller aside, the gamecube had immense potential but wasn't capitalized on (where's a mainline 2D mario?!?!). I'll take a quality title like Nier (multiplat) over windwaker anyday if you wanna bring up quality. GOW, Uncharted, Infamous, Heavy Rain, KZ series, LBP, GT5, anyday over anything the cube had to offer, outside of the system hardware which isn't worth mentioning in this discussion. So anytime you bring up quality over quantity in this specific case you have a losing argument. One can only play windwaker, RE remake, MG twin snakes, for so long before you need a break from mediocrity. This gen has been bashed for no good reason when in fact across ALL systems we've had nothing but quality games: Exclusive to consoles
XBOX 360: Gears of War series, Alan Wake, Forza series, Halo series, The Last Remnant, Splinter Cell, Crackdown series, Fable series, etc.
PS3: Uncharted series, Resistance series, LBP, 3DDGH, Heavy Rain, MGS4, KZ series, Infamous series, Ratchet and Clank series, GT5, GoW series, Demon's Souls, Valkyria Chronicles (wow what's this? great games covering just about EVERY genre?!?), among several others that escape my head atm.
Wii: Muramasa Demon's Blade, Fire Emblem, The Last Story, Xenoblade, NSMBW, Zelda Skyward Sword, Wii Sports, among others.
Then we have constant multiplat games such as : Dead Space series, FIFA series (keeps gettin better), COD series (not a fan but have to recognize quality), Darksiders, Mass Effect series, Nier, Portal 2, BF BC and BF3, Tales games, RDR, GTA4, LA Noire, Trine series, Limbo, etc, etc ,etc.
My point is that aside from quality, the quantity is definitely there on EVERY console and in most cases far superior, but some people's goggles and nostalgia blind them from what's right the f.....k in front of them. You can name me ANY game from previous gen on ANY console and I will find a game on current gen on console, handheld or even freakin phone that matches and/or surpasses ANY game from prior gen. Now if we brought in N64, PS1 into the mix it would be harder (golden age of rpg's). Although in the end it's a matter of taste, your argument of windwaker shows blatant fanb....... extremism as opposed to coming closer to an objective argument. I would much rather have a Wii than a Gamecube anyday, and a PS3 over both because obviously it has the games targeted to my demographic which is very diverse in choosing. I'll rpg it up one week, another for shooters, another for stealth, action adventure, etc. Plus I demand quality and that's something the "losing consoles" such as the 360 and PS3 have been pumping out (hence the goty's from most sites and population).

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.
