Which one?

LED LCD? 9 75.00%

Hz all the way!?! 3 25.00%

Total:12

Basically, I'm looking for a new tv or a gaming room, something cheapish, atleast 40 inch or above that is either led lcd or has a 100hz or above panel refresh rate. I would like to know, rom your personal experiences or professional opinion on what would have a greater effect on gaming quality.

edit: I'm going full 1080... Of course! :D

Should have mentioned that too... Hmm... Atleast 40 inch. :D

lol.. you said something cheapish... a 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV won't be cheapish..

You're not going to use the extra hz for gaming in game mode. That only adds an extra delay.
For gaming you need a tv with fast response time and pixel to pixel mode.

On the cheap end lcd is usually better then plasma. lcd screens don't flicker so hz is irrelevant, unless you want smooth motion for watching movies. I personally hate that, 24fps for me as it was filmed at, but some people like having it upscaled to 120fps.

(Still waiting on a tv that can fix screen tearing by running at a variable frame rate)

I've seen some for around $500, if your not going to help, why bother even commenting on the thread?

Just trying to get more info to help you... anyway you can't really go wrong with a Samsung, or you could go with a no name brand for a cheaper option..

Color and brightness are more important than either (though they are both somewhat tied to LED).

Honestly, hz doesn't really matter a damned bit unless you magically find a video feed that shoots at 120 frames per second. Even then, it still wouldn't really matter.

the bolded

I don't get it, why would you even want your TV running at 120Hz when most (if not all) video caps of at around 24fps and console games cap off at 60fps

Does it have anything to do with 3D? Am I missing something?

One good thing about an LED tv is it will provide a better black (like plasma) and that translates into overall better picture colors.

I'd go for LED.
