I think 2012 will be a big year for dance games, the genre is fun, and I feel it is still growing, and people who were into dance games before are still into dance games now. If it is going to decline in numbers, it will largely be because of transitioning to the Wii U, but I think it will be a fairly big genre for a very long time among non-nerd/geek gamers. It's also one that is going to expand - you can almost guarantee that many more big companies are going to start up their own franchises.
The dance game genre is not new, DDR was there, but DDR really was limited due to having to use the pad, then DDR for Wii came out and people really liked the motion controller aspect a lot, but not the fact that they were limited to an area with a dance pad - so now dance games remove that - and here we have the first real party game.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
If i had a baseball bat to smack the head of every idiot asserting that Nintendo is going to move towards iOS...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
there will always be people who want to dance so i say no, dancing games will always be around.

Nobody has nintendo games, and that is what people want. If you have the only water supply, you don't give control of it go others. |
That might be the best comment of your's that I've read.
Oh my goodness, how much more Nintendo is doomed are we going to have to endure?
Nintendo just moved close to 7 million in software sales in less than a month with just 2 3DS games and they are still claiming all this doom and gloom. Last time I checked the iOS marketplace didn't just have a sudden decline in free games in the past month.
Why don't these people understand that not everyone accepts some watered down wish wash as a past time so readily, there is always going to be people who would much rather pay some money to get a great value and experience from their games, rather than something that is free and completely shallow.
"2. Handheld software sales will continue to decline as smartphone and tablet penetration increases."
Do these guys know the 3DS has surpassed the DS sales in a shorter amount of time?
"4. EA will finish the year with a higher market cap than Zynga."
Not an expert on these things but isn't that impossible?
