Let's see then: The title of the thread is flamebait, considering that not only the "fanboys" are fighting (ie discuss vehemently) the latest sales numbers.
Then, preseinting a "fact" "despite" the evidence to the "fanboys", because that what this thread does, is flamebaiting.
But let's discuss this: You mean to say that Facebook gaming on Apple device will satisfy the COD fans so they won't buy the next gen home consoles? I don't think so. The evidence shows that home consoles are in high demand, despite Facebook and Apple.

Well, I guess I'm bored too.

I guess I'd need to explain my far off sarcasm.
The OP simply means that, there's no reason to fight over the numbers like in Dec17 sales thread.
Everyone is doing great and sales increased YoY.
Console gaming is not dead despite the "analysts" claiming Facebook and Apple will wipe dedicated gaming devices out.
Ah, so instead of people fighting over whose consoles are better... It'll be consoles vs. iPhones/Facebook wars...

Aha...
My sarcasm detector is not sensitive enough on this subject I guess. Missing some analysts inputs.

Well well this only goes on to propel forward the false notion that the market pie size of the gaming market has stayed constant and that the iPhones and Androids and whatnot are killing off tradtional gaming platforms by eating into their pie. True to a certain extent, but judging from the numbers that dedicated console/handheld gaming are still very much alive...
Can we just interpret this as an expansion of the gaming population and market (in terms of casual gaming on phones luring in previously non-gamers like what the Wii did back then?)
Yes, casual gaming is gaining a foothold fast, but traditional gaming dying? Not quite yet. If you're to interpret the eating up of market share in percentage terms, then yes. But if you were to look at it number-wise, you're probably looking at the influx of millions of casual players who didn't/don't have the habit of playing on dedicated consoles. Both sectors, dedicated or not, are growing in their own rights. Except that the casual sector's outgrowing the other one?
This is just my viewpoint DON'T COME AFTER ME.

When you look at it percentage wise, which all the analysts did, it's very wrong.
Suppose 100 people are on dedicated handheld gaming, then you get 400 new people started playing games on their smartphones.
The dedicated handheld market is now 1/5 of what it used to be.

Don't forget that some of them could turn into dedicated handheld gamers. Potetnially this is a good thing for handheld gaming then :).
