I like the idea of not revealing a game 2-3 years in advance and then it getting further delayed. People could lose interest in an anticipated game if it takes to long to come out. I like that they kept it a secret. So exited for this game. :)

Day 1 purchase for me, intrigued to see if it launches in 2012, but if they were ready to announce it at e3 in 2011, then i guess it was nearly ready to go and didnt quite make the cut. Here's hoping we get a 2012 release!

I cannot wait. I think this will come out Nov 2012, with full E3 reveal later this year.

What does that mean? I think I've seen the movie Children of Men but can't remember anything about it.

Watch http://youtu.be/0A8__UZ_BQg - you'll notice there isn't a single cut in that scene, which is quite impressive.

Few cuts, the camera stays close to the character and therefore moves a lot - this style leads to a denser atmosphere. You feel like you're involved in what is happening and not just watching it.

Children of Men was so bad and that scene you posted looks laughably amateur. Obviously because it was uncut for so long, it's really hard to make it good if you don't use any cuts in action scenes like that. I love long scenes without many cuts but that was just overkill and makes it look amateur and not immersive.

I do think it's a sign of seriousness though to apply the principle of long uncut scenes into a cinematic game. Hopefully it works out.

That scene didnt look "laughably amateurish"....i thought it was quite intense and well done.

At least the scene you showed looked even more clumsy and improvised than that student made Half-Life movie or the Halo movie (dont remmeber who made the original small halo clip). And that is quite amateurish for a $100 million production.

As a comparison, the half life movie:

You're joking right? It was nominated for best Film editing and Best Cinemaphotography at the Acedemy Awards and you're saying it looked Amatuerish. A 5 minute uncut shot that hits every single beat of the scene is the epitome of a professional. Infact that scene is highly regarded amongst professional film makers. Using many cuts does not make a movie look profressional. And it's kind of ironic you compare it to that amatuer video. The reason it uses so many cuts is because it has to, to try and hide how amatuer it really is.

I think this is my most anticipated game for the remainder of the generation. Probably the Last Guardian was before now, but given its super long gestation it's pretty much dropped to 2nd place.

I have supreme confidence in ND, but at the same time how ND are talking this game up in terms of it redefining video gaming, it's a highly ambitious project. So it's not without it's risks of falling flat and not meeting expectations (NDs or the gaming public's).

I wouldn't be surprised to see the PS3 failing to have the technical capability to deliver NDs vision and that the game gets pushed to PS4 launch. But oh what a launch title it could be! It would make it very difficult for me to remain a mid-generation console buyer as I have been ever since getting back into video gaming.

Could be that the PS4 launch title option is being considered, which is one reason ND haven't even given a rough launch timeframe for the game.

I'm patient. I can wait for the revolution to start.

Source de la vidéo : Reportage dans les studios de Naughty Dog Toutes les vidéos de The Last Of Us

Although mostly in French (for those that will not understand it), it's quite informative! Don't expect subtle improvements from Uncharted 3, things have been completely reworked; from lighting to character models movements and texture quality! This is because, according to ND, they were able to start from the ground up. I almost feel like, since this project began in 2006, that The Last Of Us is Naughty Dog's true PS3 IP and Uncharted was a side deal that just happened to turn into gold!

Holy. Shit.

Accidentally creating Sony's most acclaimed exclusive title and arguably the most acclaimed new franchise of this generation...

Hahaha
