First of all, some of you might think this thread resembles Simulacrum’s eloquently named thread “So...Whats up for 2012?”, well, you’re WRONG! My thread is plenty different and here’s why.
While I know most of you have a whole shopping list of games, music and movies you’re looking forward to in 2012, I’m so not interested in having you list them all! Okay, maybe I should rephrase that: What I’m interested in is WHY you’re looking forward to these items on your list so I’d rather you list only a few items per category with a paragraph to explain what makes you await their release with eagerness.
Here are my picks:
GAMES
Diablo III
I’m very patient when it comes to Blizzard games but Diablo III has reach the point where it HAS TO release in 2012. I’ve sunk so many hours into Diablo II and it’s expansion Lord of Destruction, I can’t wait to discover the new classes and to build my very first character which will be immediately followed by many other characters (50% of which will be Demon Hunters since I’m a sucker for Rogue type classes). I haven’t watched that many gameplay videos but what I saw makes me confident this game will consume my life just like its predecessor.
StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm
I realize that I’m hoping for two Blizzard games in one year which is madness but I’m pretty sure it’ll come out in 2012 even with another inevitable delay or two. The teaser trailer which was released earlier this year totally hooked me and I really want to know how the story will pan out. The new units look promising and maybe this time I’ll be able to invest myself more in the multiplayer aspect of the game so I can leave the ranks of worthless noob to graduate to full fledge chump!
WiiU
Okay, it’s not a game but I’m really excited to see what Nintendo will release along with the WiiU. I think I’m more intrigued by how they’ll use their tablet controller than by the fact that we’ll get Ninty games in HD.
MUSIC
No Doubt
The members of No Doubt have been promising me (yes me personally) a new album for at least 4 years now and I believed them every year but it never came. Now, it seems 2012 will finally see the release of that much awaited album. What is different this time? They actually recorded some songs throughout the year 2011 and I really really really want to believe it.
Madonna
I’m a huge Madonna fan, I have over 150 Madonna songs on my iPod and I went to her last three concerts (they were all fantastic!) so it’s only natural that I’m looking forward the her new album coming in 2012. I’m a little worried because I didn’t like the leaked demo of the song she’s gonna perform at the Superbowl (Gimme All Your Love) but even if I end up not liking that particular song once it’s finished, I’m confident I’ll love the album.
Metric
Over the course of the last two years, I went from not knowing about Metric, to being obssessed with this group. I started with the last album Fantasies and gradually made my way back to the very first one. I also saw them live at the Ottawa Bluesfest in 2010 in a very short but very energetic set. They are presently recording their new album and it will be released in 2012 and I can’t wait!
MOVIES
The Dark Knight Rises
Like most everyone I really enjoyed The Dark Knight so it’s only natural that I’m looking forward to TDKR. I’m curious to see how Anne Hathaway handles the role of Catwoman and if she’ll be able to eclipse Halle Berry’s (just kidding) Michelle Pfeiffer’s performance.
